Last Film You Watched

Watched Split last night and was reasonably good. Wouldn't normally be arsed anymore with a Shyamalan movie after the dross he has produced over the last decade but the link to Unbreakable grabbed my interest as I really liked that movie. Wonder will there be a follow up.

The ending was poor, imo.

On the way up the river they come across a load of rich colonials, who entertain them with wine and fine food.

Blissfully acting as though they aren't in a war zone.

It adds to the overall surreal trip up the river to Kurtz.

I read the book many moons ago ; a module at university on Belgian colonialism. Think we were bad at the treatment of 'our subject peoples' - novices compared to King Leopold's men.

Watching Apocalypse Now, one of the great films ; just now leaving 'the asshole of the world'.

Can't say I enjoyed this film that much. Too long, the ending is dumb, none of it made much sense tbh. Compared to Platoon or Full Metal Jacket, it's way down the list.

Watching the documentary about the making of it helps enormously.

There's so much to it, that it's very easy to miss loads - symbolism, political statement etc, also there's all the ad lib stuff - Sheen overdosing on acid and them continuing filming, Robert Duvall ad libbing during the " Charlie don't surf " scene and loads more. Plus all the trouble they had with Brando too.
