Last Film You Watched

This was on Film4 last night.

A truly bad film. It's a long time, since I've turned a film off.

Set in the seventies. The story of a super duper, all singing tower block, where the higher up you live, the more expensive your apartment.

This leads to division between the occupants and eventually anarchy.

Dreadful.

Swerve at all costs.

It was proper awful, felt really let down by it

Awkward Sexy People (2015) (Called Slow Learners in US) - Indie Romance/Comedy -
'Slow Learners is an indie, romantic comedy film which follows a couple who embark on a journey of self-discovery when they decide to help each other become "bad" and "crazy." The film stars Adam Pally, Sarah Burns, Reid Scott, Catherine Reitman, and Kevin Dunn.'
'Only a few scenes fail to draw laughs in a movie that’s unexpectedly smart and consistently amusing.'

It was ok.

The Commune (2016) - Drama (subtitled) -
'Trine Dyrholm powers a tense Vinterberg film set in 1970s ... Ulrich Thomsen (L) and Helene Reingaard Neumann in The Commune.
The Commune is a story that focuses on the clash between personal desires versus the solidarity and tolerance in a commune in the mid-1970s.'

Good film.

Something In The Air (2012) - Drama (subtitled), semi-autobiographical -
'A young French radical (Clément Métayer) travels to Italy and becomes involved with a woman (Lola Créton) who shares many of the same aspirations.'
'Though the film is more about personal goals and ambitions than revolution and Assayas does not shed much light on the causes that the students fought for, no film in recent memory has presented such an authentic view of the immediacy of the period as Something in the Air.'

It seemed to lack something, maybe it just skipped from event to event without detail but, it was still a watchable film.

Paper Towns (2015) - Drama -
'Young and shy Quentin (Nat Wolff) is in for the night of his life when Margo (Cara Delevingne), the most popular student in high school, recruits him to help her play mischievous pranks on the friends who betrayed her. The next day, however, the mysterious Margo is nowhere to be found. With help from a few buddies and some cryptic clues that she left behind, Quentin embarks on an obsessive mission to find the girl who stole his heart and made him feel truly alive.'
'Paper Towns doesn't require the amount of emotional investment or elicit the kind of tearful response as The Fault in Our Stars, but it's well-acted and humor-filled.'

Enjoyed it, sort of.

Android (2015) (Called Uncanny in US) - Sci-Fi/Drama -
'A robot (David Clayton Rogers) begins to exhibit unforeseen behavior after its creator (Mark Webber) enters a relationship with the reporter (Lucy Griffiths) sent to cover their story.'

Inferior to Ex-Machina, which it is similar to.

100 Streets (2016) - Drama -
Three different stories covering infidelity, adoption and a drug dealer turned actor are intertwined as characters meet in the streets of London, starring Idris Elba, Gemma Arterton, Franz Dremah and Ken Stott.
'A converging-narratives film that’s a mix of effective moments and predictable ones.'

Anything with Idris (could be 007) Elba and Gemma (gorgeous) Arterton should be worth watching, this is just about that.

Maggie's Plan (2015) - Drama/Romance -
'A woman (Greta Gerwig) falls in love with a married man (Ethan Hawke), then devises a strategy to reunite him with his former wife (Julianne Moore) three years later.'
'A perfectly cast comedy of manners that couches complex emotional questions in joyous farce and continues Gerwig’s reign as the undisputed Queen Of Quirk.'

Worth a watch but, not a film that you 'have to see'.

Went to see 'Life' at the flix yesterday, bit of an Alien/Abyss/Gravity knockoff but not bad.

Went to see it over the weekend.

Really enjoyed it.

A proper " thinking " film and I liked the fact that there was no lead character in it, they all shared it.

Also the clever use of claustrophobia within the confines of the space ship was well worked, much like Aliens.

Cracking special effects too.
