Last Film You Watched

Yeah, I get what he foresaw, it's just that for every trade there's a buyer and a seller, and I couldn't fathom the motives for some of the trades. Like towards the end, the suggestion was that Bale was selling his positions - who to? Who would buy it from him?!

I should read the book. Flash Boys is a great book and explains it's theme well, so perhaps this will be the same.

That's true and I thought that myself, but having no knowledge of how trades work I didn't think to much on it. I'd be interested to know now, so if you do find out let me know

I get all the concepts about how corrupt the whole system is, but I couldn't fathom who was buying what from who, and how they were getting rich/poor from it. Particularly Christian Bale's & Brad Pitt's characters and their trading antics. Very confusing.

I should probably know, working in investment banking, but it all got a bit muddy in that respect.
You didn't understand and you work in investment banking? What are you, the tea lady?

Crimson Peak...

Not bad, it's a very well crafted film harking back to The Haunting with a real gothic tone and a couple of quite creepy set pieces. The production design is fantastic, cast are fine, script is.. fine.. It's just del Toro did this same story, basically, in Devil's Backbone 1000 times better and a lot cheaper. Even one of the ghost effects is the same but not as eerie. I'd like to see him go back to a low budget Spanish language flick after getting Pacific Rim 2 out of the way.

No, I'm a business analyst. Not everyone in the financial services industry is a trader. I can do my job perfectly well without a single bit of trading knowledge, cos that's not what my work is centred around.

Think my review wasn't as detailed as yours, along the lines of "more thriller than horror and the visuals were good 6/10."

Seen the advert for a horror called Slenderman the other week, just looked another jumpy/slasher film

Noticed a documentary had gone online about it as well, some kids in America butchered someone and their defence was they got told to do it by the Slenderman. Going to give the doc a watch tonight

Just watched Spotlight again.

I saw it at the pictures when it first came out and thought it was immense - the gongs it landed were well justified.

Just watched it again in Blu Ray and appreciated it even more. Some brilliant parts played, and the story really does capture the bravery of those reporters who ran with it.

One of the best films of the last few years.

The Slenderman thing was initially a huge series of YouTube internet shorts with a Blair Witchesque vibe. They were very creepy as far as I can remember
