The kids were watching Megamind the other day. I wasn't really paying attention but it seemed quite entertaining. Felt like a bit of a ripoff of The Incredibles though.

Just watched Zootopia and it was surprisingly very good. Got some nice touches for the adults throughout with the references to other films and TV shows like Breaking Bad. Would recommend giving it a watch.

That's why I mentioned it. Apparently a 'lost' Australian classic which makes Deliverance look like Bambi. Features an actual footage of kangaroo hunt which is pretty gruesome. I'm pretty squeamish.

American Honey

Pretty much a southern US/white trash/hillbilly road trip film.

Loooooooved it. Best film I have seen in the cinema in ages. Amazing soundtrack, the cinema was vibrating from loads of Southern Rap (Juicy J etc), then had Mazzy Star and Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. 170mins or so genuinely flew by.

A brilliant soundtrack from the Psychedelic Furs

"One of Our Aircraft is Missing" A Powell and Pressberger collaboration from 1942. Made with support from the Ministry of Information but not a propaganda film. Shot in black and white the cinematography ( by Jack Cardiff) is very atmospheric and the scenes from the aircraft of a bombing raid are the most realistic I've seen. You can have a chuckle at some of the mannered dialogue but it reinforces the truism that even in Britain, the past is another country. Thought provoking film.

Great performance from Cumberbatch...Tilda Swinton totally and utterly miscast and really detracted from the film...

Im giving it a 6.5, would have been 7.5 or 8 but she really shouldnt have been in the movie and stopped the flow of the film...lots of sighs by the audience when she appeared again and again.

Dont get me wrong...Cumberbatch is worth the admission fee. However, and this isnt a spoiler as its revealed at the beginning but Swinton is cast as someone who should be Asian....someone like Ken Watanabe would have been ideal.

But a bald white chick?

it made the movie very stop start but as i say, cumberbatch was very good.


Edit: its a bit of a yoyo movie...you get into it and then suddenly you are distracted by swinton and some special effects and need to kind of wait 5mins before thats over and it picks up again.

The 5th Wave (2016) -

Chloe Grace Moretz stars in this thriller based on the first, in a trilogy of books by Rick Yancey.
Aliens attack earth, people die, families split up....the usual thing.
Actually enjoyed it though and hope that they put the next book into production, as this will give another chance to see the brilliant Moretz again.
