Last Film You Watched

This was on last night and I was really disappointed tbh. True story about a Mafia hitman / serial killer - The Ice Man, who killed over a hundred people, whilst maintaining the facade of a loving father and husbands.

The book by Phiip Carlo is superb, as it really captures his sociopathic nature. The film hops about all over the place and never really gets going. Only saved by the standout performance of Michael Shannon as the Ice Man.

I watched Everest last night. True story about the 1996 expedition that ended in disaster. It was traumatic. Caused me to read a bit more about climbing Everest and discovered that there is a place in "The Death Zone" near the summit called Rainbow Valley which has nothing to do with rain and light but is called that because it is a deceptively cheery sounding landmark along the Northeast Ridge Route that got its name from the multicolored down jackets and climbing gear attached to the numerous corpses littered along the hillside.

Good film though.

There was also a lot of fall out amongst the climbing community following the disaster in 1996. That's why it's hard to read a neutral book on the subject, as most authors have taken one side or the other. Plus the Sherpa's who gave up their lives have been forgotten to a certain extent, which has caused a great deal of anger within their Communtity.

Yes I saw that when I was reading on line about the actual events. Agree about the Sherpas who were incredibly brave trying to rescue people

If you like films like Everest, hunt this one out if you haven't seen it ?

True story of the plane carrying the Uruguayan National Rugby Union Team's crash in the Andes 1972.

It's one of the most incredible tales of survival ever ( cannabalism ) and the scene when the plane is torn in two when it crash lands is so real, it'll make you think twice about flying for a while after !

Saw that years ago and read the book. It is amazing. I'm old enough to remember the actual event. Might watch it again though. I remember liking it. Must admit I like films based on true stories. Thank you for reminding me of it

Money Monster.

Watching cam recordings is usually a major no-no for me. So was this, but not because of the quality...Well, yes, because of the quality - err, hang on...

Screen quality wern't too bad, tbf. A film that's directed by Jodie Foster, starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O' Connell, you'd think 'Hmmm...good line-up'

And you'd be right.

But it's total & utter krappenscheisse. Do yourself a favour, and don't give me the opportunity to say 'You were warned'.
