Last Film You Watched

This was on again last night, if you haven't seen it and are a scfi fan, it's a must.

Karl Urban was made to play Judge Dredd and the diminutive, beautiful Olivia Thirlby is an inspired casting choice as Judge Anderson.

Slick, stylish, great soundtrack, stunning special effects, set and ultra violent. Brilliant film. On my list of all time favourites.

Finally got round to watching the remake last night, after swerving it on the grounds that the original was so good.

Not as bad as the critics made out, but despite the increased budget, stellar cast, special effects etc, it's all a bit by the numbers and lacks substance, meaning you aren't really arsed about robocop.

Original much better imo.

Rewatched the first two Poltergeist films, first time since I was a boy of the 80's.

1 is still pretty good: not really scary anymore and some choppy editing, but really good acting all round which made you invested in the family. 7/10. You can see the influence this film had on modern poltergeist movies.

2 has a very unsettling baddy, disturbing premise and one memorable scene puking up some bourbon. The rest is slow, bit dull, phoned-in acting and the ending is utter cheese. 5/10.

3 I'm not sure if I'll bother...never saw it as a kid either, supposed to be pretty terrible.

Curse watch:

- after filming 1 the actress playing the eldest daughter was murdered by her boyfriend.
- after filming 2 the actor playing the satanic priest died from stomach cancer, aged 60.
- after filming 3 the main character throughout the series, Heather O'Rourke, died of some obscure disease aged only 12.

All three died before the actual film hit the cinemas. Just as well there was never a part 4.
