Memoir of a Snail - It was ok. Cute, and a nice story, but very slow and a bit boring at times. Should have been half as long imo. It starts off recounting her youth in a way that seems at first like it's just set up for more interesting stuff to happen in the present, then just continues for ages, and most of the film is her retelling her upbringing in the same manner.

Mate, it's called Memory of a Snail - what did you expect but slow and boring?

'Nightmare alley', finished with a bit of 'The Grifters' 1990 - saw it coming a mile off. Had loads going for it, but became so derivative. The double cross was telegrammed, not least because 'it' was all in the same place, you can't employ her like that and not raise suspicion.

No road to redemption, and didn't maintain the dignity it started with. Failure. Maybe that was the point, but simply not good enough. Avoid.

1 Toni Colette out of 10. Swerve!

See what you think ?

It’s worth watching, it’s just overlong imo.
It was a mess, and they crowbarred Galadriel in for more than was required. Only dawned on me today what it reminded me of, especially the old timey opening and sepia tones. 'Shutter Island'. Besides the twists being similar and telegrammed from the other side of the universe. It has a lot of the same parts, but they've been put together all wrong. Dafoe and Perlman under used, Strathairn could have been the key to the plot, made a big song and dance about using and losing the vision, and then made a balls up of it all. $60m to make it, earned $40m back. Somehow was in contention for best picture Oscar. Which makes a mockery of all art since the dawn of time. Who was voting for this lump of matter? Your mate coppola?

It looked very pretty, a kind of candy floss sweet picture, so against the carnival backdrop was quite clever. It felt like a computer game.

I'm down numbering my score from yesterday, four fifths of one point out of ten. Del Toro is on notice...

Just watched mickey 17

I thought Robert pattinson was actually quite decent in this especially the way he portrayed the multiples

Mark ruffalo was also fine as ever and played this political character that was a combination of Donald trump and dr evil

I was hoping the film would be more laugh out loud funny but it was more just whimsical at times

I still enjoyed the film 6.5/10 for me

The Infernal Machine ( Film4 )

This is the strangest film, Guy Pearce is just brilliant in the lead, but the film itself is total garbage.

Pearce plays a reclusive author, who lives in total isolation somewhere in the US near to the Mexican border, who is being stalked and menaced by a anonymous super fan.

The idea for the film is good, Pearce is brilliant, even down to his Northern English accent, it’s just that the film is dull and lifeless and when it finally does come to life at the end, it’s too little, too late.
