The rain, it raineth every day
This is well worth a watch.
Gangs of London had a very graphic scene of a bloke get blown apart by a grenadeWatched 2 films last night, both true story's.
The Hatton Garden Job, was disappointed with this, was a bit slow and while some films based on true story's can have a bit of artistic license for extra drama I just didn't think this was very well done. Hatton Garden, the drama series with Timothy Spall was much better, and The Bank Job with Jason Statham was a better bank robbery film IMO.
Also watched Kajaki, now this I really enjoyed, good survival type film about lads caught in a mine field in Afghanistan. Not a war film, more a film about comradeship, some of it was a bit hard to look at though if you don't like images of blown up people!! I like films like this, 127 hours...etc
Looks like a remake of Rear WindowI wonder when and how can we watch The Woman in the Window? The film got lost...Netflix are not buying either it seems. Love Amy Adams.

I think that Colonel Nicholson was from Birkenhead. I believe his family fought to restore his good name because apparently, in reality, he did everything in his power to disrupt the construction.I watched Bridge on the River Kwai with Alec Guinness years ago, a classic film made just 12 years after the end of the war in 1957 but in colour and not dated, as about the Japanese PoW's.
It's about a Colonel Nicholson who as the senior officer amongst the prisoners reluctantly agrees to camp commander Saito's suggestion of getting the World War II POWs to build a railway bridge. However, the project soon becomes an obsession..
The cruelty depicted at a time when it wasn't normal in British cinema to be so explicit was only part of the tale. Truly harrowing, brings home to you in a way no documentary really can, just how inhuman the guards were to other human beings, although in general the Japanese were brought up to think being taken prisoner was the ultimate degradation, worse than death, and prisoners were therefore the lowest of the low and should be treated as such.
Felt sorry for that lad who got blown up 3 times!!!Watched 2 films last night, both true story's.
