Seen The Eight Hundred earlier at the cinema, anyone seen this? Its a brilliant film, about Battle of Shanghai in 1937, between the Chinesse and the Japanesse.

Not sure about the historical side of it in terms of accuracy but as a picture is brilliant, quite long and with subtitles, which i know dosent appeal to everyone. Its also quite brutal in parts, some of the battle scenes are heavy but these army's were ruthless. Highly recommended, obviously there must be a lot of CGI im guessing but even thatis very well done unlike some American war films we have seen recently.

Hadn't heard of it, but will defo give it a watch cheers

Anyone seen this? Tickled my fancy.

Probably way too late with this, but yep, I've seen all of Gaspar Noé's films... they're all great IMHO, and he's so good from a technical point of view. I think Enter the Void might be the hardest-going of all his films (from a certain point of view - Irreversible is still the bleakest and most notorious). I think his most recent one, Climax, is on Netflix? I think that's much more accessible (and shorter) than Enter the Void.

I haven't seen it yet bud, was saving it for the weekend. Recommend though?

I think Love is on Netflix too.

Spring breakers

It’s so, so close to being a great film but the script badly lets it down.

It’s looks great, there’s great performances throughout, and it’s spot on with its commentary of youthful exploration, and exploitation, but it just falls down at certain parts.

Feel like I could’ve watched it on mute and had the same experience.

Still, I did really enjoy it and would recommend it to anyone wanting a very dark, cynical teen coming of age movie.
I watched this last night and thought it was awful. Maybe I'm just too old to get in to the American spring break culture meets gangsta culture but I just didn't see the point of any of the storyline. It all just seemed totally unbelievable from start to finish.

I saw this one when it came out, but I can't really be bothered with Harmony Korine's hipster-ironic thing... I've so far swerved The Beach Bum for that reason.

I haven’t seen this film but it sounds very interesting. The Japanese occupation of China was as brutal as anything the Germans did in WW2.
Can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t like subtitles. Dubbing is horrible and completely ruins any film.

O yeah good point about subs.

Yeah the Japanese were horrible, I watched a film about the rape of Nanking a few weeks ago, heavy subject.
