Last Film You Watched

I don't know why but I just expected...more from this movie. Just the cast was absolutely top notch but just something was...maybe not "missing" but it just lacked something to me?
It's funny how much expectations can change your feelings on a film, any art I suppose, but it seems particularly keen with film, maybe as it engages on multiple fronts. With this one, I'd barely heard of it and had no expectations at all, but I've definitely had the same experience, Prometheus being a classic example.
I've also had it in reverse, I was almost wanting to dislike Blade Runner 2049 and it completely blew me away, but I think that's more rare.

At least with Prometheus you could point to something that really bothered you. I can't really with Knives Out. I give it a solid 8.5 or so but just the cast, the writing, everything had a 9.5 or even a 10 potential. Just something made it feel like it should have been...more?

Seen The Eight Hundred earlier at the cinema, anyone seen this? Its a brilliant film, about Battle of Shanghai in 1937, between the Chinesse and the Japanesse.

Not sure about the historical side of it in terms of accuracy but as a picture is brilliant, quite long and with subtitles, which i know dosent appeal to everyone. Its also quite brutal in parts, some of the battle scenes are heavy but these army's were ruthless. Highly recommended, obviously there must be a lot of CGI im guessing but even thatis very well done unlike some American war films we have seen recently.
