Midnight Run (1988).

A much overlooked Robert De Niro picture.

There is a great scene where De Niro visits his ex-wife's home for assistance as he flees the FBI and mob; and his daughter - who he hasn't seen for 9 years - quietly appears from the doorway. He responds with: ''You got so big". Heart-wrenching. Charles Grodin is quality as he remains handcuffed in the background; communicating with only facial gestures.
When you say ‘overlooked’ do you mean that it’s the first time that you’ve seen it?

'kin ell. Ken Loach telling me a movie is boring is like George Lucas complaining about CGI.
you have to have some intellectual background to understand his films mate. I, Daniel Blake was amazing particularly. Most of his other films too.

DC, Marvel stuff is just waste of time. Can't see myself paying for it.

Is that the argument from "if you don't like something I like it's because you're thick"?

I don't like his movies because every single one is the same cardboard cutouts of noble working-class savages who's personality flaws are only ever brought about by the evil boss class and uncaring institutions.

Your mileage may vary.

Riff Raff was ace. Even thought Ricky Tomlinson was good in that.

Not seen that. I enjoyed Looking for Eric, but I think that was simply Eric Cantona being Eric Cantona that did that.

Even The Angels Share which was supposed to be one of his lighter pieces had me grinding my (sugar rotted, NHS neglected, BUPA not-covered) teeth to stumps.

We all have the things we "should" like that we don't. I find Ken Loach absolutely insufferable.

Finally got around to watching 'Joker' over the weekend.

Definitely lives up to all the hype. Joaquin Phoenix is excellent.
I got some serious 'Requiem For A Dream' vibes with the cinematography and artistic choices in parts.

Just a shame it'll all be ruined by joining up with the Batman franchise :(
That won't happen anytime soon. The new Batman film is a standalone film
