Last Film You Watched

Solo: Better than expected and thankfully better than Rogue One. Still mediocre at times, but after 20 minutes or so I started enjoying it as I actually started caring a bit for a few of the characters. Han Solo is still Harrison Ford to me, but the kid playing him was ok. Woody Harrelson was great, as always, while the Chewie - Han interactions were nice. Not a fan of Emilia Clarke tho, think she's a very limited actress in GoT, but here she managed not to piss me off so that's a good think as well. 6/10

Watched Avengers: Infinity War for the third time yesterday. This movie feels like the sole reason cinemas were invented. To me it's the perfect comic book movie. Characters built up throughout 18(?) films that you really care for and love, the best action in any super hero film ever
(watching Dr. Strange going ham fighting Thanos and Thor showing off his powers is the greatest thing ever)
, the soundtrack is sublime - Alan Silvestri continues to sement himself as one of the best film score composers ever in my book, and the villain might be the greatest comic book movie badguy ever. Watching the film for the third time in a month, it still gave me chills several times. That's the proof of a quality comic book movie right there. 10/10

Wasn't allowed to edit previous post, so here we go. Films I've watched the last couple of days:

Dracula (1931) Very atmospheric, obviously the story surprises no one and the acting was very over the top. Still enjoyed it to some extent, though it's not nearly as good as Phantom Der Nacht. 5/10

Nightcrawler: Superb. Jake Gyllenhaal is the definition of creepy in this one. I wish I loved my job as much as he does. 9/10

Event Horizon: Sam motherf*****g Neill is still the greatest actor ever. Film is pretty good apart from him being in it as well. 7/10

Deadpool 2: Enjoyable. Would've enjoyed it more if the trailers didn't spoil half the jokes in the movie though. 7/10

Key largo was on this afternoon, good stuff, I've only quite recently started reading Hemingway, and i think it's first time I'm seeing the films having read him and not just watching them as movies, which was quite cool. My dad was telling me the lad who plays 'johnny rocko' spoke about 10 languages

Ha watched that as well, always enjoyed watching Bogart, the fella who plays Johnny Rocko, always played a baddie, Edward G Robinson another great actor.

David Lean's Great Expectations on BBC 2 this afternoon. Great film and cast.
Didn't recognise Alec Guinness until he spoke.

Wasn't fussed on the older version of Estella. Thought Jean Simmons should have played both versions. She was old enough at the time to get away with it. Classic beauty.

American Psycho. Had never seen it before so when I saw it on Netflix thought why not.

It was an okay film but was so easy to work out the ending.

v1.webp
Irish film that trys to put a new slant on zombie infestation, its ok but doesnt quite get there, after a virus has infected the world a cure is found for 75% of the population and those that are cured are intergated back into society, though not wholley accepted,if you seen "in the flesh" on tv then you will basically know the plot, maybe worth a watch for some but dont expect a zpmbie flesh eaters gorefest
