Last Film You Watched

I`d also forgotten about - Moon ;)

7/10. Man From Earth is superior if you like clever talky sci-fi.

I understand why people might say Aliens is better. They're wrong of course, but I understand why it happens

It's very much like Terminator 1 vs T2. One is sparse, moody, dark, relentless, intense. The other is spectacular, action-packed, witty. If all else is equal, I generally prefer the former type of film.

Saw The Quiet Place last night. Enjoyed it a lot. Very eerie, atmospheric and creepy due to the lack of verbal dialogue throughout most of the film. Couple plot holes but apart from that very entertaining, and the young kids were really good.

Saw it tonight.

As you say the kids were good, to the point of outstanding, particularly the young girl.

A very good premise for a film - being hunted through sound, but could do with a follow on, to fully develop it.

A weird little film called After Dark, My Sweet. It's a neo-noir picture that didn't get a huge release but it's interesting and always on those "Top Films You've Never Seen" lists so I gave it watch tonight.

Without spoiling anything it's one of those films where all the way through you keep thinking "where exactly is this going like?" but I enjoyed it to be fair. At no point did I lose interest because the characters manage to say a lot throughout even without talking sometimes.

A Quiet Place - very well made, subtle and tense film but loses points for some pretty gaping holes in the logic of the film.

Ready Player One - I'd have to watch it again. Speilberg just isn't this kind of film maker anymore. As the intended target age group of the film I enjoyed it for the most part, Irok with a classic 'Tootsie Pop' line and The Shining being a device they could have used more with going into other films or even commercials from back in the day.

Finally saw the Shape of Water.

Great nod to 50's nior. Nowhere near my favourite GdT but a solid film. I was very surprised that it won Best Picture (before I had seen it) but wasn't quite as *out there* as I expected.
