We got a spot on HD film actors and acting cannnot fault as for it's not about Billboards it's in the title, The actual murder case just goes into nothing the plot is so weak the ending is a complete mess it again in my opinion a poor Coen brothers rip off which sadly fails plus I am not the only poster to point this out!

Not listed as a black comedy - really a murder rape injustice put on three billboards my the mother ain't that funny in any sense imo - I agree with the actors/acting etc but the plot was so weak and it could have been a true classic instead of a bodged copied Coen brothers copy!

It is a Coen Bros copy Joey, I said so earlier in this thread, No Country for Old Men, Fargo, even True Grit are in another league to it, the Coen's are about dialogue, two people talking for 10 mins can be utterly captivating in some of their films, like Tarantino, all about the things people say to each other, take the cellar bar scene in Inglorious Basterds, the coin toss scene in No Country for Old Men to pick just two.
3 Billboards has nothing that comes anywhere near, a really good film to me is one you want to watch again, and even again after that, I don't need to see Billboards again really, it's a 7/10 for me, a decent watch.

Frances Dormand is married to one of the Coens' so I am sure they are aware of it.
I am a great Coen fan as is my son - this is a very poor imitation with top actors with great acting but in comparison with a average Coen brothers film it falls well short imo great reviews oscars etc is not to everyone's taste!
OK did they even open the file on the murder rape case in the two hours?
Or was the enthisis on the Three billboards ?

If so something was missing my opinion is a very poor plot!
The title, the listed genre, and the comparisons to the coen brothers (who were once brilliant, but now a little past their best) are not in the least bit important Joseph! Let go of these complaints and open your mind to the film a bit more, you might not enjoy it still, but if you don't like it at least don't let it be for irrelevant reasons
AsI stated with the top acting cast they carried a very poor plot through, another poster thought the same, it's all about opinions perhaps it's rave reviews left it more of a damp squib - I imo still enphersise that the plot was weak and poor in fact it left room for a follow up which in my opinion was ludicrous!
Watched a bit with my bro over the w/e. He was already quite a way thru when I came in. The bit I saw was pretty good (him and his partner were on the run with some girl and the wand, had a fightout in a petrol station, then they we caught be the orc crimelord and the girl used the wand). Certainly good enough to make me want to watch the whole thing.
Does seem like it might be quite similar to Alien Nation going from what I read about that on imdb, but with more species, emphasis on magic and action maybe?

Third one is not as good tho.
As you say, it's all about opinions Joey.
Some will love it, some will think it's not all that and it will continue to polarise people.
The Blade Runner sequel is the same. ( I suspect both will be seen as classics in years to come )
Ps - It's based on fact too.
The script writer had driven through a small town many years ago and a lady had done something similar.
