Just watched Spiderman homecoming, thought it was extremely average.
i think micheal keaton elevates it a bit, its just nice to have a villain that isn't a cgi overlord, but yeah other than that it plays straight and safeJust watched Spiderman homecoming, thought it was extremely average.

Went watching this when it was on the pictures and although it wasn't bad in and of itself it's just utterly pointless if you've seen the original. There's a couple of good things with the time changes and all but not enough to justify a remake. And the bit with the Confederate Flag seems a bit odd as it doesn't go anywhere....seemingly a simplistic way to create artificial tension within the group but it just doesn't happen.Crap. First one is still a very effective exploitation horror, this does the same film but with more annoying and 'actory' acting and a dash of pointless CGI of the 'witch', think that's what it was meant to be anyway. At least the first sequel had that foxy Goth chick it it.
4) Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets : The latest sci-fi epic from Luc Besson, coming 20 years after his initial foray into the field with The Fifth Element. Not seen much positive press on this, which means it probably bombed - however I loved it. Certainly plenty of depth to the environment within which it was set and the leads had a sparky chemistry which allowed me to buy in to their story. Well worth checking out in my opinion.
The budgets in TV has definitely moved the goalposts, allowing writers time and scope to develop stories and characters in a way that films don't, regardless though I would agree with you anyway, I think 'saving private ryan' is a series of great moments rather than a great film, the mindblowing opening scene, the letter scene and the tense knife fight being great stuff, but overall when I watch it now it feels like a propaganda exercise for some reasoni re-watched saving private ryan yesterday, its a good film but i cant help think that hanks and spielberg trumped themselves with band of brothers making it a lesser film now
