I think we'll try for a loan with a view to buy,Pompey desperately need to trim their wage bill as well as urgently bringing in funds, seriously, their short/ medium term financial situation is worse than ours.

Leslie Terence "Terry" Owen (born September 11, 1949 in Liverpool Merseyside) is a former professional footballer who played as a striker with several clubs in the 1970s, and is best known as the father of current Newcastle United and England international striker, Michael Owen.

Owen came through the ranks with Everton (the club Michael supported before joining rivals Liverpool as a youngster) and made two top–flight appearances for the Toffees in the 1967–68. Unfortunately a place in the Everton side was always going to be difficult to come across and he moved to Bradford City in June 1970. His two seasons with the Bantams saw Owen manage six goals in 47 league appearances but Bradford were relegated to Football League Division Four shortly before his departure to Chester in June 1972 for £1,000.

So Owens Dad played for us too.

I like Nugent because he appears to be a nice lad, tries hard and is one of us. But I can't say he excites me as a long term Everton player. Surely, as well, he'd be better moving down into the championship rather than up to a club of our stature? When all our strikers are fit, he might well be 5th choice. Would he even come under those circumstances?

I remember a lot of fans with similar concerns when we signed Wayne Clarke, the rest is history.

Nugent would come here regardless of the circumstances Nebs,i'm not a fan of his by any means but he believes in himself, and that's a major part of any striker's make up.I really think it's a no brainer, get him for £2.5M tops, we'd get that money back if things went tits up.

Nugent would be a big step back, yes we have a lot of injury prone strikers, i mean Saha and Vaughan, the Yak from what ive seen isnt really considered injury prone, but now he plays for us im sure that will change.

Who ever we get should ideally be a loan signing, Henrik fits the bill for me. He might well be 37, but the lad has got more talent than most.

Is Anchovy really that bad that we need another striker? We've seen against spurs that 451 is our best fomation. Plus what about Baxter??

Baxter's recovering from injury at the moment, we need back up if Vic gets injured, either that or stick Cahill up front.

No, but its a lot to ask a young lad to play upfront on his own from now untill March, i mean im being very unkind on Saha, but we honestly cant count on him being fit, Yaks out for EVER and JimmyV is back March earliest. Jose is a bit young and as pointed out is also injured.

I agree mate and i think moyesy is a fan of his, Larson is first choice though for me.

How many England International Strikers are up for grabs at the mo! Crazy.

Spot on. Nugent has shown he cant cut it in the Prem. Were meant to be pushing at the top of the table not battling relegation.

Bit arsh mate, he never really got a chance at Pompey, not that im banging down the doors to see him here, as i was sceptical the first time around when he was the next pele.

But he moved for the oppurtunity to play in the Prem which he never got.

Id prefer him to Emilelila.

Larsonn is the future!

He got plenty of chance last year mate but was woeful, I know Heskey is ex them but he is capable of doing a stop gap job and having a positive affect on the team.

The last thing we need is to be carrying an unproved, out of form striker after New Year which is a real possibility if we signed Nugent. He's only being considered as he's a blue.

He scored 10 league goals in 32 Championship appearances in 2005-06, as Preston finished fourth, losing to Leeds United in the playoff semi-final, thus failing to gain promotion. Despite transfer speculation, Nugent spent the following season at Preston, scoring 15 goals in 43 appearances, and winning England recognition.

2007 Portsmouth App 15 Goals 0, i say HELL NO.

Nugent being a blue doesn't influence me in the slightest, nor do i particularily want him here, but it appears that someone at Goodison does !
