ah, but as i'm sure you know diuretics are taken so that they can excrete the gear.
It's in every sport mind, despite what the media would like to portray
yes way off topic. why's the MLS season so short?? Couldn't they add a few more teams in and make it longer?
Good point on the diuretics.
The MLS will grow, but it will take time. The sport is dwarfed by the gajabillion other major sports in our country, and we have short attention spans. As was pointed out, Seattle was added this year. Philly next year. The league will grow over time, I just hope it does grow to a reasonable size where we can get our fill like you guys do.
I don't know if you guys know this, but right now the MLS is staring a strike right in the face. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) expired this year, and the Players Union and the League Owners Group need to agree on a new CBA before the next season can start. Lockout is in February if they do not sign by then. If that happens, we might not have a 2010 season. Many are expecting one side or the other to cave by then, but who knows? If you Brits are interested in hearing about American soccer's politics and what they're fighting about, I'll expunge here but otherwise we'll just leave it. Pretty technical and as usual, we do things differently here.
to be honest, i am sort of bummed about landon coming over
but ONLY
because now when people find out i support everton, they'll see tim and landon on the squad and be like "oh, he picked the side with the most talented american players on it" i'll have to explain that i liked them BEFORE donovan played for them.
a classic "before they were cool" scenario
but otherwise, [Poor language removed]'s so cash.
Haha, I understand that this dynamic exists, but I don't know why people care so much about that. I'll admit I came here because of Donovan. But why is that bad? The reality is we all came here at
some point due to some circumstance. I do laugh at the "internet/street cred" that seems to come with circumstances and how long someone has been a fan. If I root for Everton, it will be because of Howard and Donovan, and it will have started in 2009/2010. You guys can take it or leave it.
After all's said an done. Landon in three months time won't be a life savior for us he will be one component of it. It would seem a lot could be put on his shoulders by the fans and if the sympathic to Bily's performances so far in a blue shirt look how much time is being afforded him to stand out. Donovan will have to move into overdrive right away to gain any respect for a US outfield player and I just can't see that under this short time limit.
This really is something I'm going to watch too. I hope the Brits don't mistake the Yanks' excitement for Donovan as him being a "savior". I make no assumptions about how he will do at Everton - I'm just excited to see him have another go in Europe now when he's more mature & ready. Most of us are excited because he's one of our star players going to England, not because we think he'll change all of Everton's fortunes.
I realize you know this too, I'm just saying in general... I hope Toffees don't think our optimism for Donovan means he'll change their fortunes.
How was everyone's weekend?
