Landon Donovan

To be honest, I'll be annoyed if we give him a ten week holiday. Massively small time deal and not in our interests.

Came across as a right belter in that interview.

Yeah, well small time, like that fella beckham and those milan lids. Who are they??

Fully agree! Sounds very soft!

It'll be to counter-act what happened with Beckham at Milan.

Tidy up a contract, give him lots of money, but loan him out under the clubs terms.

He better play more than 50% of the game he's here, otherwise whats the point?

"I'm fortunate to get the best of both worlds.... I can stay here but then play in some of the best leagues in the world"

The press conference was to say he had just signed a new contract. Embarrassing. We shouldn't be giving players 10 week contracts.

Talkng about "his head not being right" and "difficult year personally" im all for anyone having a bad time of it - but i dont see how a studs up takle by Richard Dunne or osmone of that sort in Feb is going ot improve it for him!

To be honest its the ten week thing - dont see the point in having someone for ten weeks when you could have them for five months - they would have to be damn good - not sure he will be good enough to justify the shortness of the loan!

Your comparing David Beckham with Landon Donovan?

Whats with the sore puss?

We're effing skint and getting anyone decent on loan in January is going to be neigh on impossible. We cant even get loans in the Summer window.

We have to take everything with a pinch of [Poor language removed] mate.

Wow, lots of doubters here. What's the problem here?

We're giving a 27-year-old no mark (in that he's completely unproven in any decent league) a 10 week trial holiday.

Its not in our long term interest. Even in our worst days we had better short term deals than this.

The press conference was to announce he had signed a new contract. That to me means theres no realistic chance of signing him after the loan, which makes it pointless and small time.

Again what do you expect?

Man, you guys are embarassing. We are absolutely hurting for players and we have the chance to get the best American outfield player of the last 20 years on loan for three months.

Yet this still isn't good enough for some of you? Seriously?

Jeez. Really poor here in all honesty. I expect more from felloow Evertonians who I consider "informed."

Bit harsh to call the best player in for the country ranked only five places below England a no mark pal.

There's no fee and he could prove a decent extra attacking player to have around at a vital time of the season.

Winner against Carlisle nailed on here.

PS: Bill's going to shoot you in your sleep there.

Didn't Donovan just win the MLS MVP? And is supposed to be the best American player around atm?? :p

Really i'm just playing Devils Advocate, but many people consider Beckham to be not that good, and massively overrated. Donovan may not be a Ronaldo, Messi, or even Beckham, but he's hardly Brett Angell either! And obviously this situation is very similar to Beckhams in Milan. Don't think you can really call this Small Time, unless you consider Beckhams deal the same way?
