Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

Moyes standing up for a boss club like Sunderland the way he did for us with Lescott Baines etc. If we want him we'll have to pay, if not Sunderland keep their best player. We were all praising Martinez for the same thing with Stones last summer.

He's not our best player like. He's done well, but there's a couple who are more important.

It's not really that, it's more to do with Ginge's comments when he was trying to grab players from us to ManUre - the old "shouldn't hold players back" thing. Two-faced ballbag, by that reckoning he shouldn't be holding Kone's career back by keeping him at Sunderland. Just sayin' :coffee:
We told him to do one then, only fair he tells us the same. He is a ginger ball bag though.

I don't want a player who is a bell at his current club..... Potential to do the same at his next club.

I prefer to look at it as a player who is extremely keen to come to Everton and is prepared to do whatever it takes to force a deal through. Sign this lad and we can legitimately claim to have the best CB pairing in the league.

I don't think he gives the first damn where he'll be playing to be honest, if the money is right.

Strange situation now - the majority of our fan base have now turned against him and would probably, on balance, be in favour of selling if the price was right and helped us strengthen the squad. That said, I think the possibility of him staying at SAFC is now greater than it was a week ago, before Kaboul left and at a time when the majority of fans were still pro-Kone. A week is a long time in football.

Neither of those are debatable in the slightest.

It is though. Kirchoff actually is very comparable. Came in January, actually had a shocking debut, but then gradually became an effective defensive midfielder. Kone along with him was equally responsible for making you a much more solid outfit.
Nobody is bidding 18 million for Kirchoff though.

Can't help feel this situation is one of Moyes and Kenwright helping each other out. Moyes wants to look strong and be on the get someone in before he goes tip.

This deal feels done and ready for deadline day. For sure, if I was splashing large cash on players, I'd probably want to have a few headlines on deadline day when the world's media are watching, guessing this will be one.
