Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

Disloyal to his club... welcome to modern day football.

It happened with Yakubu at Boro before he joined us, it happened with Lescott forcing his move to City.

You have to accept it is, unfortunately, part of modern football, and we have just have to hope it doesn't happen to us but in a way it already has with Stones and Lukaku.

Moyes in his pre-match press conference in the last half hour, when asked about Kone:

"We expect Lamine to be back in for treatment tomorrow. He's still a Sunderland player and he will remain a Sunderland player."

He's going to have some grovelling to do if he's still here on 1 September.

Pretty certain he was promised a new contract if he kept you up

It's got all the makings of an "off the record" nod and a wink deal between Allardyce and his agent, McKay. If the Club were on board with this "contract boost", then surely it could just have been written into his original contract, signed at the end of January? It's not hard to add a clause saying "and if the Club stay up, your wage will be X instead of Y".

The whole thing stinks to be honest.

In the end I think Moyes morals will be thrown out the window because you'll no doubt rely on him massively if he stays.

If you'd have given him the contract he was promised in the summer this thread wouldn't exist.

Look up at your directors box for the root cause of this issue

Nonsense - as I've said previously, he only signed in January and if the Club were aware at the time of this "promise", it would simply have made it into his contract - a short clause giving him a wage hike if we stayed up. Allardyce has a long standing record of dealing with Kone's agent (McKay), and this has all the makings of a nod and a wink side deal that Allardyce did unilaterally. Yes, the Club have since been forced to either (a) honour it, which they apparently have done to no avail; or (B) deny all knowledge and tell the player to take his medicine and honour the contract he actually signed.

Moyes himself said to stay away, apparently:

Read that yous made a bid for the boy Mawson from Barnsley and all. Meant to be the next one him.

There's plenty of media have run with that story but I'm yet to see one quote. God knows what is actually going on but it may well be that the Club have said "whinge all you want, you are not going anywhere as we need you", particularly after the unfortunate Kaboul situation.

I know nothing about Mawson, but am hoping Moyes does (if true that we are in for him).
