Lack of pace in the squad

With a very inexperienced opinion, pace certainly helps on the break but you would think most teams would set up defensively against us, we've had so many static looking teams recently with no movement, the idea of Sandro, Klassen, Rooney & Sigurdsson providing consistent movement off the ball is so exciting and should make up for any lack of pace.

we could possibly do with a pacey right winger if we're being honest, but i think we're going to be buying so many attackers than pace won't really fit in. Players like bolasie and lookman could be very useful in certain away games when trying to kill games of, but neither will be good enough for starting XI. I think if you have clever players making runs into gaps who can link up with others with one touch football, it can negate the necessity of needing pace.

I think next summer we could do with buying another pace merchant, but we definitely have to wait to see how coleman and bolasie come back from their injuries first. I think a new pacey left back wouldn't go amiss either.

Pacey wingers are sadly a dying breed at the moment though.

If the team gels then the quality of our footballers will see us plenty fast enough.

You only need out and out sprinters if you're going to be a dog of a team and just try and hit people on the counter with over the top route one stuff into the channels.

See Crystal Palace.

Pace is important and we do have some quick players, just not headless chickens. Players with good vision, passing and quick feet make everyone look fast because they pick out the right runs.

Rooney will make Mirallas look twice as fast.

Fairly quick bench then. Not sure helps on the pitch.
Tend to agree tbh, I like Gylfi but he moves at the speed of a glacier.

See i dont see why people are so quick to disregard these players, one just won a youth world cup, one we spent 27 million on and one just signed a new deal. Lennon also has never let us down and is one of the fastest players in the PL.

I just dont see why they are consigned to the bench if the team needs pace there are four players there with excellent pedigree have been effective earning thousands a week, there is a lot of pace in the squad if that is what is required in specific games.

We dont need pace, we need guile, craft and creativity.

Lets be honest here, people just want a shiny new player.

I hear what you're saying about needing more Pacey.

Henry says Hi.

Yes this is a problem. Hopefully we bring in one pacey striker (which is why I'm not overly excited about giroud, who is the slowest striker in the prem) and a winger in this window otherwise we lose out on one major attacking option. Mirallis and lookman are OK. I like Bolaise but I worry that his injury will reduce his speed quite a bit.

The ball can be moved quicker than any player.

I like pace in the side (Kanchelskis was a joy to watch), but clever football in a well organised team can beat a gang of speed merchants. Just need to get the system and balance right.

I don't think we are looking to hit teams on the break so pace isn't the problem it was. We look to be changing into a team which will press high up and look to get the ball back quickly.
Besides Lookman, Bolaise and Sandro look fast enough to cause problems when we need to sit back and hit teams on the break.
Teams ars going to sit back against us more than ever, sometimes speed of thought trumps leg speed.
