Bad luck. It was a risk, that did not pay off. Ah well. On we go.

Martinez is a manager that does take risks, so this will happen under him, more than it would the other fella.

We are all happy enough to enjoy the benifit to the risks that pay off, we need to take the ones that dont.

Its 1 thing taking a risk in a single match, although im struggling to think of which risks have actually come off?

I mean playing a high line versus the vermin across the park was a risk, loaning an injured striker was a risk, getting in an injury prone CB was a risk, selling 2 strikers in a season and not replacing them despite us already having 1 out for the season was a risk.

It seems to me as he taken far to many risks and its left us in our current postion.

deulofeu sub against liverpool and arsenal could be considered risky moves that paid off..

still think next season will be season whne we can really judge martinez

The seventh place trophy is ours, all ours!
I still think we will get 5th. Win the game in hand and we are only 2 behind spurs, who really are flattering to deceive. We need a good win against west ham though. Time for Del to start, drop Pienaar. I'd start Rom and just ask him to give everything for an hour, hopefully by then we will be a couple of goals up and we can sub him. But literally I would throw everything we have at west ham in the first 20. Take the same approach from the RS

You are aware that we are 7th, its not just Spurs we need to pass.

And you think that risk has paid off?

Hes a shell of a player at the moment.

do you think barkley might be a bit of a funny fella? hes a bit odd in interviews and he seems to have confidence crisisss's, has he got a girlfriend for example? what are his hobbies? i worry for the poor little chap

Playing from the back.
The keeper having the ball more at his feet.
Asking 2 central defenders to play differently than they have for the last 5 years
Starting Ross quite alot
Starting Gerard
Bringing 2 direct wingers on.

Loaning 3 players
Signing 3 Wigan players
Playing not 100% fit players

Oh come on, playing from the back is a tactical change, its not really a risk.

And you consider playing a Barca player a risk?

A risk of sorts, yes.

I like how YOU dont think they are risk, so they are not risks.

Chaging tactics IS a risk.

Taking Lukaku & Barry & Gerard on loand, were risks.

Yes, but you cant just judge it on the first few months, he was flying, then he got injured and RISKED playing him when not 100% fit, guess what happened?
Oh I agree he risked him bringing back for the Liverpool and it didn't pay off - in fact has backfired as it really knocked Barkely back. So yes that was a risk that should not have been taken and did not pay off.

But Barkley was performing excellently for a young player for 5 month - he was not a one or two game wonder. He might be one of those youngsters that has a great first season and then gets found out but we will only discover that by playing him. Jelavic was wonderful for a few months, then awful and now is scoring goals again - Bruce took a risk in the shortterm it is paying off, who knows in the longterm.

The initial risk of starting Barkely this season and playing him regulalry was a risk and it was paying off until his injury.
