You have to say (and I'm as pro-Martinez as you can get), loaning a crocked player to fill in between mid-February to May wasn't too clever.

Obviously it all comes back to what he's allowed to spend, but he should have gone full pelt into the transfer market and bought a player for the future who was good to go from early January. It's cost us dearly in points lost. That should have been acted upon with urgency when Lukaku picked up his knock.

I hope he's learned his lesson on that.

These tall players do seem to pick up lots of muscle injuries (Caroll and Ferguson the same).

It was a shocking signing tbh.

Behave, no one was whinging about it at the time. He picked up an injury. It is unfortunate but it happens. He has hardly been a sicknote in the past.

How much game time did the lad have before he got injured and signed for us on loan? He was nevre going to be match fit for the EPL at the business end of the season. In fact, I heard when he played against Swansea he had just days in his legs from training at Finch Farm and risked further injury playing in that game.

Yeah but apparently there were no other suitable strikers available apart from a crock who got Crocked again after 1 game.
Well they were, but they would have cost more than the few quid traore cost and we're saving all our money up for a spending bonanza in the summer.
That falcao, Costa and higuan ain't gonna come cheap you know, we couldn't afford to waste a few million on a striker who would get the money back by having us higher up the league, oh no.

There are a few lower division strikers who'd have come relatively cheaply and would have been worth the risk eg McCormack at Leeds.

As far as I'm concerned Martinez had nothing to spend. He might have indicated he had, but he also said he defo wanted a Gibson replacement and never followed through with that either.

After springing McGeady for a few quid (out of the Jelavic cash) and having his wages kicking in from January, Martinez was probably given the green light to pay wages for another short term loan. These are the type of straitjacket conditions our managers are placed in...whilst trying to wrestle a CL spot away from financial juggernauts.

If Troare is out for six weeks might as well send him back and save money. Roberto has been good with his signings?? How many injured players did he sign? Kone, Alcaraz, Troare any more?

Neither Naismith or Osman are strikers TBF, why isn't Del starting Roberto, he is the nearest we have to a striker?

Give a couple of young lads a crack. At least one of them could run faster and last longer than Ossie.

There's no question he's made some dodgy signings that are offset by his more cute signings in the loan market. The percentage of good to poor judgement in this respect will have to improve if he's to make a fist of the pittance he'll get off the mobsters running this club, that's for sure.

I reckon McGeady will prove a very decent signing eventually, tbf. He did well in January in that respect, I believe.

Maybe overstated, however I will be back when he's here next season too.

Cant see it tbh - It's not like Roberto had been tracking him for months and he was our number one Jan target - if that was the case we wouldn't have let him virtually sign for West Ham, and actually sign for Monaco.
