I presume these are the direct quotes that you are referring to Robert?

“We signed Fellaini for £15million last season and we’ll need a £15m signing or more to improve the starting line-up,” said Moyes.
“We do not have massive funds. Bill couldn’t be clearer to me about that. The job is to keep it going.
“It’s difficult to improve a team that finished fifth and reached an FA Cup final.
“I’m also going to have to add squad players, Bosmans and free transfers to bulk up the squad.
“We cannot take giant steps like other clubs but this year we have to hang on to the shirt tails of the others because if we do then the rewards will come.”

We'll sign Naughton, I'm still confident of that, we had a bid accepted an Kenwright confirmed that we are still hopefulof signing him.

If Naughton has any sense, he'll join us instead of becoming just another statistic of the yearly Tottenham Transfer Circus. Don't forget, "next season will be Spurs' year!" I've heard been hearing that for the last 15 years now.

Spurs = Fremantle Dockers of the EPL.

Which is what I've been saying. They say he's got a boss engine, he's up and down, pacy, nippy, he's a small lad and a bit of a handful - on an attacking front he'll be massive threat and was Sheff Utd's best player in the playoff final who should've had a peno.

That was Walker, he was playing right back in the play off final and Naughton played left back. Walker was better than Naughton on the day, made and unbelievable last ditch tackle on Robbie Blake when the ball was cut back to him.

Well bugger me sideways:lol:

Can be taken both ways to be fair. We can't afford big money signing to be just squad players and our squad is paper thin, we even cancelled a reserve tour because they are all with the 1st team

After the statement by Moyes last night, I think it is bye bye Kyles. Certainly goodbye Cana, Delph abd Defour.

Not sure about the Kyle's but I agree with you about the rest. I was already in that camp before this summer started. Let's wait & see what developes in the next two weeks or so. I still have the fear if Lescott hands in a transfer request and we get big money north of 20 million it would be hard to turn down even after the declarations last night. Summer crazy season is always fluid.

Don't know if this has been said but....

Everton ahead in race for Special Ks

Published Date: 16 July 2009

Sheffield United's Special Ks are on the brink of joining either Everton or Tottenham with the Toffees nudging back ahead in the race for the two brilliant young full-backs.
But United chairman Kevin McCabe warned both clubs last night that he will pull out of a deal with either or both of them if the business hasn't been concluded by tomorrow.

The Blades stand to rake in up to £10m from a joint deal for the pair – and the price could have gone even higher if Aston Villa, Kyle Naughton's long-time admirers, had made a late bid.

But the indications are that pursuing the duo as a package – with Kyle Walker being allowed to return to Bramall Lane on loan next season – will swing a deal at either Goodison Park or White Hart Lane.

McCabe told the Telegraph: "It could be decided in a short space of time. But if it isn't done by Friday the shutters will be coming down. The rumours have gone on for a few days and that's unhealthy.

"We have had proposals from both clubs and are awaiting calls. But it won't go on much longer.

"Unless these clubs can satisfy our requirements I'll pull the shutters down."

If a transfer is done – as seems most likely – McCabe believes several signings will swiftly follow.

He said: "There are quite a few players we are negotiating to buy. One or two are big names for big sums. We have signed three so far and others are likely to be joining."

McCabe stressed that neither Naughton nor Walker had been put on the market.

He said: "There have been approaches for the two youngsters that we have not been able to stop. In many respects this is unwanted.

"If we had got promoted last season there would have been no issue at all. As it is, when Premier League clubs come in you can't deny the opportunity. It's the way of the world."

Everything now seems to hinge on the wishes of the players themselves if the rival bids are firmed up to United's satisfaction. Barring an unforeseen hitch, they are heading for the the Premiership.

With the transfer saga coming to a head, Kevin Blackwell – who probably needed incoming cash to satisfy all his needs – is racing the clock to re-stock his squad in time for the new season.

There are seven or eight vacancies to be filled despite young Tranmere defender Andy Taylor becoming a third summer signing.
