Kurt Zouma

.....very concerned with the number of one-on-ones Palace had against us at the weekend. Thankfully, Pickford excels in those positions, but we will concede goals.

Without the pace and running power Zouma gave us, players who get behind our back four will inevitably have a clear run on goal. It’s a problem that needs to be addressed.

I agree BUT nothing can be done until January at the earliest mate.

I have nightmares of Salah and Mane waltzing through our back line

What’s your take on Kurt’s performance yesterday?
He seemed to cause chaos in the Chelsea back line.

Wasn't the number 2?

Teams were consistently through on goal against us last season due to Zouma charging out of position and leaving a massive gap behind him. Teams getting in behind a defence has nothing to do with pace, and everything to do with positioning and reading of the game.

Coleman being out of position was one of the biggest issues for me

got caught out twice, to be fair we had two "holding mids" at that stage who should have covered him. will happen the left hand side on occasion if the cm's dont get their act together

....i didn’t watch the game, but it did seem those chances were generally down the RB channel. Regardless, it does help to have that pace and power in central defence that can cover. I’m not certain who played on the right of the CB pairing.

From the shed end:

---------

We all agree he ain't really good enough now?

Obvious to everyone, except the man in charge that matters it seems ...

I think we lost £20-25 million off any future fee today.

---------

I said it in the match thread, that was a Bakayoko like performance from Zouma today. He looked totally out of his depth.

---------

Frank's first mistake as our manager. Picking him rather than Tomori. Imo.

---------

All I can say after that performance yesterday is that I hope Rudiger is back playing and fit sooner rather than later.

---------

Come home Zouma.

....he had a disaster of a game, very rash and awkward at times. He didn’t cause chaos for us, though, and CB s are all about having the right partnership.

I have concerns about Keane/Mina pairing because once the opposition get beyond them I fear they are out of the game. If we don’t have Zouma, we need a Zouma type.
