Unless Lampard genuinely sees him as a potential long-term partner for Rudiger, he's going to end up wasting another half-season of his career at Chelsea.

If your competition is Christensen and luiz, then your first team.

Dont think they do, there always seems to be something a bit murky going on with transfers at Chelsea and who does what:

Virtually no team rotates its centre-backs outside of competitions that they're not interested in winning, so he'd be waiting on an injury to Luiz before he got a chance, and even that's only if Lampard rates him above Christensen.
