On the contrary, the defence was the best it looked between the Chelsea game until the Liverpool game. Only a 3 or so game period, but that didn't include Zouma. Personally I don't really rate him and I think his athleticism gets him out of a lot of trouble.

I have to disagree, Keane and Zouma had played well after a shaky start up until that game. We had a good run where they seemed to have got the zonal marking down but after that it went to rat poo.

He's nearly as hit and cold as Everton. Has all the assets to be a top defender but is capable of howling mistakes and switching off. One thing he has which helps him is pace and athleticism which is why its him and one of Keane and Mina on the team sheet right now.

Kurt, Kurt, Kurt Zoum',
I hope we sign you soon,
You make our de-fence better,
From now until for-ever!

Just came in here to say exactly the same thing.
He finds himself 5 yards behind the rest of the back line as he switches off and gambles on relying on his pace far to much.
Really like him as a technical player, and feel he has all the attributes physically, was excited to see we signed him but watching him more closely the 2 most important things you need as a centre half is positional awareness and concentration, and unfortunately Zouma has neither of them and thats what will stop him being a top top defender

I liked Yobo but if Lescott had stayed and Jagielka hadn't got injured he was 3rd choice. I remember him messing with his shinguards and costing us a goal, also his square ball to Rooney when he was a Manc and they are just off the top of my head. Decent defender but not quite good enough and for the money Chelsea want I want someone better!

For those couple of years Lescott was the best centre half we have had at everton in my 20 odd years supporting us.
A proper cheast out defender, strong but agile, and positionally excellent

It'll be Keane and Mina v Cardiff anyway, since this dope got himself suspended.

Honestly, Jagielka should come back in purely to chuffing try and organise the rabble.

You should change your name to sentimental toff

It was mainly in jest tbf lad. The worrying thing is, can you actually say with your hand on heart that any of Keane, Zouma and Mina can organise a defence as well as Jagielka can (which, ironically, Jagielka isn't particularly good at either).
