2018/19 Kurt Zouma

Rudiger is injured
Luiz is old and only got a new contract due to the ban
Christensen is awful and would of gone if they had no ban
Ampadu is 18 and not good enough yet.
Tomori again unproven and untested in the league.

Rudiger is on a similar level to zouma after that there's a massive drop in quality. The fact you added 2 kids in there that rarley play says it all.

This is just not the case mate. Prior to this, Christensen, Luiz and Rudiger were all considered levels ahead of Zouma. Azpilucueta will end up as a centre half too, and before last season was seen as ahead of Zouma (he played there ahead of Zouma under Conte).

After that you then have a range of young players who could fill in the places, yes they are untested but they have the right manager to blood such players.

I can see an argument that Lampard wants to keep him. I can't see an argument that states Chelsea cannot afford to let him go. They have a plethora of resources in that position with as many as ten, potentially even 15 credible options.

But it's down to Lampard (or whomever) so it doesn't matter who's been there longest, who played last season, who got loaned out.

It's down to who Lampard prefers from what he sees in training.

We really have no idea.

Yes to an extent. Lampard will have a say as any head coach will but also those who sit above him will have an impact. All of the above will then factor into the decision. The days when a manager comes in, and has a clean slate to do as he pleases are now gone.

We also have to factor is, Lampard is being brought in as a manager who will blood young players. That is his MO really. That will be very much at odds with keeping the likes of Zouma who are tried, tested and failed at Chelsea. I can't imagine a manager with his standing is going to easily be able to override the wider aspects of the club.

You're talking a lot of waffle here mate.

Lampard will decide who his preferred centre-backs will be - end of discussion.

£40k at Chelsea and a fight with 6+ other players for a position.

£80k at Everton and rotating with 2 others.

Not a hard choice.

As somebody else pointed out, he isnt fighting with 6 people at Chelsea.

Luiz and Christensen are their only 2 fit proven CBs currently, the rest are unproven yoots and injured people like Rudiger.

Its like saying he would have to fight for a place with Feeney, Pennington, Gibson and Galloway here.

Do you not think there will be other factors at play mate?

With a transfer ban? No.

Edit: Just before you say "what if Zouma wants to play for Everton" then yes, if so, he'll more than likely come but he's always, always maintained he wants to make it at Chelsea over everything else:

"I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there.
“I want to show people I can come back and play there. That’s why I need some game time at Everton here because they are a good team.”

Sounds like an easy choice for him, but its not his call, has he even put in a transfer request? As Chelsea can just say no, like we did with Gueye, this is what worries me, im sure he will come if he can.

I just hope Brands has a cut off point where we accept we cant get him and move on to someone we can

I’m believe so yes. Which is odd as he’s nowhere near as good as Zouma in my eyes.

He’s had several seasons under different managers as part of their squad playing plenty of games while Zouma has been getting farmed out, there must be something in it.

Think Chelsea need a manager before anything can be decided, I mean im not naive enough to think that Chelsea havent probably already asked Lampard the question regarding Zooms.

Yeah and i cant see him deciding in the first 10 days or so either, so what does Brands do, hang on until a fortnight before the season starts to find out before we go elsewhere, its a awkward one this, just got to hope Mina is fully fit and ready in case we cant get him

Yeah because Chelsea always put their managers first don't they? Its not like they bought Barkley against conte's wishes, or pulisic without even telling sarri about it or even bought kovacic without a manager.

Chelsea buy who they like and sell who they like and the head coach can either like it or lump it.

Also those quotes are from a week after we signed him on loan.

This is from the 12th of April

speaking to Sky Sports, Zouma has left the door open to potentially leaving Chelsea - although he admits he hasn't spoken about his long-term future yet.

"To be fair, I have not had time to talk about because we still have seventh place to take before the end of the season so I am focused on that," Zouma said.

"Where I will be is where I know I have a chance to play. If it is here or somewhere else - I don't know where - I just want to enjoy myself and to keep playing.

"I am very happy. I am enjoying my season. I am enjoying my time here. It is not finished yet. I am still enjoying it.

"I have been playing a lot. That was my target when I signed here. The loan move has been very important."

Obviously desperate to go back to Chelsea...
