Just new to the forum. Followed Everton since TC joined from Milwall. And been loving it with a passion ever since.
I'm a dutch Australian living in Ireland.
I was watching Klassen during the match and it just confirms my opinion that he is not worth the hype.
He's has playing in Eredivise where he gets more time and space and this has allowed him to look better than he is.
His vision is ok if the build up play has already created the opportunities, but against tighter, a well marshalled defence through the centre, he doesn't react quick enough when receiving the ball, hesitates, lacks vision and doesn't have the skills in tight to create stuff for others or himself.
The two giveaways and the easy pass he stuffed up that would have sent in Rooney one-on-one with the goalie were telling today
I hope he adapts quickly for Everton, and us Dutch, but there are better players coming through for Everton like Dowell and Davies

If RK is not prepared to gamble on inexperience then Everton really need to sign a creative, good on the ball, no.10. More so with Rooney needed at 9. Arteta would have fit in beautifully to this side.
While it's still early on, after this game I'd play Davies, Dowell and Schneiderlin in midfield with Rooney, Ramires and Lookman/Mirallas/Lennon (until Bolasie is fit) in front of them in a 4-3-3. If needed bring Barry or McCarthy on for the young lads if the inexperience is showing.

Welcome! Klaassen didn't look great, but it's early days. Let's give him some time. I think he has the intelligence to adapt. However, I don't think he will ever be spectacular for us, more of a workhorse who can find space to link play. I think Dowell would get walked past in Midfield.

Just a FYI, Genk were at anything but full strength - missing their no10 - besides their regular left and right backs, but still managed to have the better of Everton. I expected quite a bit from a middle-rung Premiership side, especially considering the difference in annual budgets. Wishing the Toffees the very best in their Europa League campaign and a [Poor language removed] You to the Everton 'supporters' who thought it necessary to break stuff at the Irish Pub in Hasselt after the game.

Whilst Genk were not pushovers by any- means, I feel sure that we would beat them 11 v 11, I'd ask Dowell, Mirallas, Gana and Klaassen
how they thought that they played? If they answered anything but rubbish, I'd Transfer the lot on monday next. Rooney should still be Englands Captain and ours. Keane has a lot of rough edges to rub down. Martina did a Ray Wilson to Helmut Haller in '66, but we still won that one, I'd
give him another go to look at him properly. Schneiderlin looked good again and so did Barry. McCarthy, Davies and Lookman were not
anything startling, Baines as usual was okay, Ramirez was outstanding in everything he did, His cross to Rooney was almost as good as
Barkley could have done, I don,t like dirty tackles but I believe we need someone at the back that can handle themselves, and especially to
look after our young ones and that has to be Williams. I've never had any time for Besic and after seeing him again, I still don't.

Very bad if this is true friend, but unfortunately, every club has it's idiot 'fans'. Hope not too much damage done. On the bright side you should have a good season with what looks to be a very good Genk side!

It's not like our first choice right back has been out for months with a long term injury as well as other players first team player like Bolasie....And we regularly put out a completely different side in the 2nd half to the 1st in our usual matches as well.

I'd be interested to hear both sides with this Irish pub incident as I saw something on Twitter that Genk 'Ultras' had attacked a bar with Everton fans in. No idea whether that's true or not, I imagine we quite easily could have had some trouble causers over there but it also wouldn't surprise me if those 'Ultras' were looking for it too.

Cheers. Yeah, if RK sees something in him there must be hope. Its just that the attacking centre needs a better player for the transition to really take off.
The problem is if you have Schneiderlin, Klassen and Davies you miss the player that has the class to go through and scores goals as Rooney drops. Klassen or Davies can drop in behind Rooney and when the play dictates. But it would be better if it was Klassen or Davies + world class 10. This is when Everton can compete with the best.
Dowell may become that player. Sigurdsson is definitely not and shouldn't be bought.
Whatever, I can't wait to see how they go.
With Bolasie/Baines and Ramirez/Coleman on the wings and Schneiderlin, Klassen, Davies and Rooney through the middle, they are going to rip some of the EPL teams apart.
