Slight problem here - they aren’t musicians. So my question remains, what are they making money from?

As I’ve said earlier in the thread, I’m not a huge fan of their music (it’s a bit Blackpool Grime Media in Irish form) but there’s plenty of younger people who enjoy them.

They do put on a fantastic live show as well. The energy was off the scale tbf.

They might not be live musicians (no idea how much input they have in the recording/production of the music) but they are songwriters. So I’d say the money comes from publishing rights, live gigging, merchandise sales and to a lesser extent streaming.

Are they (dare I say it) monetising the conflict to hide behind their lack of.

Talent is a bit of a weird one in punk leaning music I guess, Crass for example weren't great musicians but are seen as the one of the best punk bands cos they stayed true to their values and continuously disrupted things (mainly out of their own pocket). You could argue bob vylan are closer to that.

These guys released a film with an a-lister (although I really enjoyed the film), are playing on main stages and arenas. They aren't really saying anything nuanced too, just holding up a flag now and again. They really aren't that interesting in any way

Talent is a bit of a weird one in punk leaning music I guess, Crass for example weren't great musicians but are seen as the one of the best punk bands cos they stayed true to their values and continuously disrupted things (mainly out of their own pocket). You could argue bob vylan are closer to that.

Are people's personal opinions, often stated pretentiously or as if fact, as important as the bigger picture

"genocide is the story". It's a simple and important message with a current working example involving themselves to prove it. I wish more artists were more vocal about it. Every voice counts

I worked at HMV for 7yrs and was probably a music snob myself in some ways, so of the top tier pretentious ones I have met a lot. I'd be embarrassed to be waffling on with my self important opinion on this bands merit when the story as they say is over there and is horrifying.

Hell I'd even give The 1975 a pass if they starting sticking the boot into Netinyahu

As I don't know how else to read "they really arent that interesting anyway" or you're bored of them or whatever

I wouldn't even pay attention if it was just a general music thread, but they currently are headline news and have their own thread for a particular reason and the piping up with "oh those guys are crap" or not interesting/boring or whatever as sole input when the general topic around them is mainly the core point of "genocide is the story" just seems very very weak.

As I said, I don't understand the energy behind such input really

Someone told me he was that big sweaty one with the balaclava. Not confirmed of true

I heard the guy in the balaclava was actually Brian Blessed. They were a Flash Gordon tribute act before they got into inflammatory political music. They couldn’t bring themselves to ditch Brian so stuck a balaclava on him.

Just been barred from Canada weeks before their concert my brother has tickets for.

The anti semitism groups here are still in charge and dictating to the government.

As far as I know he's just been charged and not convicted. What a farce.

Every time Kneecap start to fall out of the news cycle, another country or venue does something like this and puts them and their message straight back into the news.

It's like they have no idea what the Streisand effect is or how it works
