Surely if we could negotiate better kit and sponsorship deals the 'fear' of maybe having a bad year retail wise would be counteracted by a half decent kit/sponsorship deal?

As someone mentioned, its the easy thing to do. Inept tit has no intention of trying to improve.

Has she got any experience for the job?

Theres no excuse not to go get someone who's got the experience and rep to do the Job, even if he/she is on a fair whack in wages, it would be worth it

This flump is on £300k a year mate. You can get someone better for that easily.

....I appreciate that but the club should be looking to see how they can increase the demand. There are a lot of folk outside of Liverpool who are fans based on the mid 80s success. Clearly the profile needs to be raised and that can only be from success on the pitch.

Absolute pure truth and reality re marketing success distilled into 4 words.

Agree. Her work with EITC is fantastic; she is highly regarded for those activities. Deputy CEO currently.

I can't believe the club are still spouting the same rubbish. This kitbag deals is awful, in terms of actual money made, we are way behind the rest of the league.

We should get out of this "deal" as soon as possible, having the two high street shops and online only presence is not enough. We should have Everton merchandise in shops all over the country and major retail partners in the USA and Europe!

It annoys me walking round Liverpool and all over the North West and seeing Liverpool merchandise Every where and nothing from us. even the Tranmere stuff seems to be popping up in sports shops now and they are non league for gods sake!

I'm logging off for a little while.

Almost burst a blood vessel reading that post on the Everton website.

At least on @GrandOldTeam people can talk about reality.

Everyone knows and Deloitte (who would know what they are talking about) have said we are not performing.

Having half the commercial revenue of Newcastle speaks for itself.

I want the club to be TRUTHFUL.

They should have said 'we must do better'.

Not try and claim a LADA is a MCLAREN P1.

"The Blues outsource some major commercial operations, thus reducing the reported revenue, but their main sponsorship agreements with Umbro and Chang are on a completely different scale to those enjoyed by some of their Premier League rivals, who are regular participants in the UEFA Champions League. On-pitch success, further international development, and a new stadium, are three crucial ingredients that may help Everton bridge some of this gap in the future."

They (the club) are taking the absolute .... here!

Some points I would make:

The key component of sponsorship revenues is regular participation in the Champions League, not success in the Premiership. Given we have never been in the Champions League beyond one brief appearance in the qualifying round it's not surprising then that our sponsorship deals reflect this.

Secondly most teams report commercial revenues in their entirety (as it helps reduce the wage to turnover ration). They account for commercial costs usually hidden in other operating costs. Everton are correct in saying it is difficult to make direct comparisons as the revenues Everton report go straight to the bottom line as costs are accounted for by their commercial partners, Kitbag. At the end of the day revenues are vanity, profits are sanity (as the saying goes)

Thirdly, the growth in revenues arising from a new stadium is in my opinion greatly over-estimated in terms of its importance, especially when considered against the cost of capital required to produce the stadium. A 50,000 seater stadium with say 90% occupancy would generate £7.5 m in extra revenues. Assuming the stadium is paid for at least partially by debt then quite quickly the net revenues arising from the stadium apear even less significant.

There's little doubt that Kitbag's policy of only distributing through 2 stores and our online presence is limiting. There's little doubt that more pressure should be applied to Kitbag to improve distribution channels for Everton merchandise, but there's no evidence (in fact contrary evidence) that the club would be any better off by bringing the operations in house. If we were to do so it would require a proper commercial director, not a PR man with potential conflicts of interest doing a part time job.

Tell Stoke and Sunderland that. Who both make more than us commercially. Ffs
Everton's fan base is way smarter than Stoke and Sunderland's. Perhaps that is a factor. Perhaps watching the Greek debt drama unfold convinces Everton supporters to keep hard earned pounds in reserve (ie savings) rather than buy a football kit. I suggest most people in Stoke and Sunderland are not as fiscally prudent as your everyday au fait Evertonian.

1 point in response Esk.

Comparison to Newcastle. Who are NOT in the Champions League or Europe.

QPR getting £10m a year off Nike. We'll be lucky to get that in 3 with Umbro.
Dont need success to make money.
Is there any way to break down the figures and see how much we have made from kitbag and how much they have made off us since we got into bed with them?
