What is the age cut off for turning everything into perceived abuse and being aggrieved about everything. One Lady went to the Palace for the first time in her life. The other Lady has spent a lifetime working at the Palace and meeting and greeting people. Out of the no doubt tens of thousands of people she has met there this is the first recorded complaint. The First Lady has since spent her time in publicising via media and TV appearances telling everyone how abused and verbally violated she was. It’s a non story that the media should never have picked up but will be used as a stick to beat the older Lady and others. Does the phrase ‘offended by everything, ashamed of nothing’ not scream out to you….

The old phrase of “Where are you from? But no, where are you really from?” is a cliche now.
It‘s been asked of non-white British people for decades, the implication being ‘you’re not really british, are you? You know, proper British’. It’s a subtle(ish) form of racism which British people of colour experience regularly. Understandable that Fulani would be annoyed and upset by hearing this racist trope played out for the 100th time.
This 83 year old is clearly not the next Ye we’re talking about, but is of a time where casual racism was frequent and normal, let alone a slightly more subtle, insidious racism, which she may not have even contemplated.
The actual outcome is debatable, for sure, but the rush to paint one side or the other as some kind of degenerate is bizarre. It’s pretty easy to see both sides here, without either party being some kind of social degenerate.
(Am I doing the internet wrong here? Now thinking I should have gone for the hot take, and advocated execution for both of ‘em.)
