Seems pointless taxing it, just pay them less instead. But the civil list aint what it was a few decades ago is it?

It was massively cut back from what it once was, still imo ones on it who shouldn't be, but at one point it was utterly ridiculous the number and amounts - these days at least the people on it are by and large having to fulfill 'royal duties' back then it was literally an excuse to have a 365 day a year holiday at the taxpayers expense

Yeah similarly a government that done so would probably see itself out of power for a decade or more after as the support for royals is high in a lot of the battleground seats of an election.

Trying to remember if the crown still officially own all the coastal waters and seabed around Britain - if they do in years to come with renewables it'll be worth an absolute fortune in leases to power companies

No idea if they do. The subject came up in the EU thread, but no one seemed to have a definitive answer. Its like places like Canada. Technically, I think, the Crown owns it. All lost in the mists of time.

There were cousins of The Queen that no one had heard of, did zip "work" but were on it back then. Bonkers.

Queen had 491 :Blink:
She owned more than just the one asset, by that I mean colossal estate in terms of castles and whatnot. It's a lot of gardeners and such, imagine heating the things...
Still at least inheritance tax and ordinary tax applies to you and I huh...(not a go at you Aber)

I think I read the other day they still do but its not %100. It was still a high percentage though and I think it is above 75%. So they still own most of it.

Woops did just hear Charles refer to Harry as his beloved son and Megahn his beloved daughter in law, proper bad move that in the Royal spectrum of things.

So I'm not too bad with languages but welsh isn't one that I'm familiar with.

The welsh that King Chaz was speaking today didn't sound very fluent to me but as I say I don't know. Can any of our welsh speakers on here provide some feedback:

@Kurt. @Mikey_Fitzgerald ? Any thoughts?
