2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

I’m honestly not even sure he’s that much if an upgrade on Doucoure (when played at 10)

Better offensive output for sure, better on the ball yes, but that’s counterbalanced by Doucoure could press the opposition effectively and offer something ons et pieces in both boxes which KDH doesn’t do.

He needs to be dropped back to a quarterback role in midfield or a left hand side of a midfield diamond.

We’re going nowhere if he’s the sole number 10 behind a striker chasing shadows.

He looks to me as though he's showing the strain of being in a team that doesn't try and hold onto possession. The emphasis is on him to keep hold of the ball and try and skip a challenge every time he gets it. That's unsustainable. We need a team that can pass the ball to each other and work our opponents. ATM we have one or two players with all the responsibility of making a turnover into an attacking threat.

Basically: he isn't Messi and no player at this club can carry the attacking responsibility for the whole team.

He's a decent player - not great, but decent - operating in a primitive football system.

I'll bet he's another player desperate to see the back of Moyes.

I don't miss Doucoure one bit, but the one thing he did that KDH doesn't do is those runs into the attacking 18 without the ball. KDH just doesn't do that, if he doesn't have the ball he'd rather support the wing, which makes sense as he's three inches shorter. Was nice to see Alcaraz attack a header on Sunday, something we've missed in that spot.

Alcaraz is the only natural number 10 we have in the squad for my money.

Garner (6), KDH (8) Alcaraz (10) would be my starting midfield if we keep playing 4231.

He creates far, far more chances than Doucoure, and if we had a decent striker he'd have more assists, same as for Grealish. He has slipped off like everyone else in the last couple months, he's out of gas because Moyes won't use the bench.

Couldn’t believe my eyes when we got a corner after 20 seconds and he played it short. We haven’t played a short corner since Martinez was here. Looked well dodgy actually.
looked like we never tried it in training either

there was another wasted free kick where a ball was played to rohl who looked surprised by the intention

can we please get a proper set piece coach like Brentford's Andrews and not moyes' neighbor or bloody Charlie Adam

but he’s still absolutely not a creative 10

He said himself his best position is in a deeper 8 role. His performances when deeper have all been man of the match worthy. His defensive skills are valued in a deeper role.

But Moyes dismisses all of that and insists that he plays further up the pitch. He’s missed so many gilt edged chances because he’s by nature, not someone who can finish at a high clip…because he’s not a 10. Moyes for some reason prioritises pressing and running over proper creativity in the most create role on the pitch. No wonder we’re a black hole of chances.

Garner and KDH are right there as your midfield duo. More than adequate tackling ability, both have great motors and can progress the ball up field (including late runs into the box for goals). It would also solve our shocking passing in the middle if these two play.

But again, Moyes wants at least one player with negative passing ability in central midfield at all times.
