Suffered from mis-management this season.

Silva refused to send him on loan in the summer and said he was part of his plans, then hardly used him.

He's gone on loan to Sheffield United and Wilder hasn't used him correctly either. He's played him wingback and as part of a midfield two for the most part.

Then at the under 21's he's getting used as a DM, which isn't his natural game either.

He's a creative midfielder who needs to play in the final third of the pitch

I trust all you lads writing him off know this though

True, but it's not a recipe for getting consistent performances out of a young player if you're changing where he plays all the time.

Would prefer him to settle into a position for the next few seasons and learn other aspects of his game when he knows what type of player he is.

FWIW, I know a Sheff United supporter and he thinks Dowell has been okay, he just hasn't played enough

Dowell isn't overhyped or tosh though

He's both Mikey, he'll have a good career in the lower half of the championship though.

He'd get a chance in the Everton team if he demonstrated that he had anything about him in the Championship, other than a brief spell for Forest he's been average at best.

For what it’s worth I do like him. He clearly can play. He can hit good thunder bastards.
But drifting in and out like he doesn’t probably means he won’t make it here.

But a career abroad could be the making of him.

Hes shown brief flashes of unreal skill and talent, but they have sadly been few and far.
