Your wrong mate , check his history at Aberdeen , that’s why his loan was ended early.

Ok. I did.

Maddison joined Aberdeen on a summer deadline day loan until January 4th.

He completed his loan spell. It wasn't ended early. According to Aberdeen's manager, it wasn't extended primarily because he wanted to return/bail because, you know... Scottish football.

He said: “We came close to extending his loan deal for a year. He was looking for a bit of encouragement from Norwich. He felt he had done his time at Aberdeen, gained a lot from it and was ready to play first-team football for them. I’m not so sure Norwich were convinced about that.

Maddison’s move into the major league in earning stakes is all the more remarkable given the fact he never cemented himself as a first choice pick during 14 appearances in season 2016-17 when he netted three times including a stunning free-kick against Rangers.

Doesn't make any odds really, Scottish football is less convincing than the Championship.

A move to Scotland may be a very good move for him. He should be able to do well at that level which may give him a level of confidence and hopefully a chance to learn how to influence games and stay involved.
I think it is too early to write off a talented young player but he has to be able to involved in a game for the full ninety minutes. If he learns that at a lower level he may be able to bring it to a higher level.

Didn’t a couple of players go from the SPL to play at Salford this year?

Hardly a ringing endorsement for the quality of the league.

Would be another poor loan out.

Learn nothing about the lad at a Celtic or Rangers in that league, and they'll pay tuppence if he does well.

That's the one criticism I have of Brands - outbound loan transfers. Bolasie, Vlasic...
Been saying it since the summer: easiest thing in the world is to fill a skip full of players and get them a loan deal at other clubs...and subsidising their wages in most cases.

Incomings he's done pretty well on. But this policy on loans just ratchets up the problem of getting shut of them for a fee as their contracts run down and they depreciate.

I think that's why Silva was left without a striker of note this window. The sale of one or two of those players could have funded one.

...but you can only sell if a club is willing to buy and the player is willing to go. I’m sure we’d love to move players on permanent deals but it’s often not that easy.

How talented is he at that part of the job? Itls easy selling hot proprty; it;s another talent to be able to conduct a negotiation to get value off players in less demand...one he doesn't appear to have...or he cant be arsed with that side of the job and wants to just trim a bit of wages off the accounts.

Call me old fashioned but I would never put one of our young hopefuls into the care of that odious RS anyway. I can't believe we're even contemplating it.

For me, the Scottish league is a tier 3 league and, for Kieran to be tested we should be looking at tier 2 level or above.

If he isn't going to get an opportunity here, which in fairness he's wasted the few he's been given, it's best of he does go out on loan. Ideally I'd like to see him go to Germany, but I'd also consider the Dutch league and make use of the relationship we have with PSV through Brands. In fact I don't think it would be a bad idea to strike up a similar relationship with them that Chelsea have with Vitesse.

I think he's doing fine. Vlasic and Bolasie will both have much better sell-on value as a result of their successful loans. No one would'be bought Bolasie based on last season.

If Siggurdson got injured who comes in at 10? Perhaps Bernard with Lookman playing in the left but then even one injury or suspension and we’re into DCL out wide again. Dowell could end up playing a fair bit of football for us in the second half of the season.

I might be wrong but the impression I get is that Dowell is way down the pecking order. I think Lookman, Tosun, DCL, possibly even Davies would all come into the side before him, with whatever formation changes and positional switches are needed being implemented rather than playing him.

Stuart Armstrong came from Celtic and he's bagged a fair amount of goals recently, including against Man United

McGinn went down to The Championship and has settled in just fine at Villa, a team pushing for promotion

The whole "Scottish League is rubbish and not a good barometer of a players true ability" argument really is getting weaker and weaker, and will continue to do so the more lads come down from Scotland and do well in the English divisions

That being said, I'd like us to hold on to Dowell because cover at Number 10 is pretty thin if he leaves

I dont think we are. The Daily Record up there are notorious for flying kites like this.

I think you could move either Bernard or Lookman to number 10 if needed so we have cover in my view it's just whether the player wants to go Rangers or the Championship. I don't want him going somewhere if his heart isn't in or he could be in for a difficult time. He's got to weigh up if he would be better off playing regularly at a lower level or waiting here and maybe only making a few substitute appearances in the 1st team and some u23 football which is lower standard still. If I was him I would want to go Rangers might even cone back with a medal.
