2018/19 Kieran Dowell

He did the same thing that Richarlison did at Watford.

He faded becasue he has been playing lots of football and the manager that had him playing well was sacked.

It happens, we need to try and give him time, and not get on his back like loads already have done with Davies.
He definitely has all the ability to succeed and I sincerely hope he makes his career at Everton rather than elsewhere.

Silva will give him a chance.

Funny how Davies and Dowell get called not ready for losing the ball etc. even though they’ve got potential to at least improve. ‘Finished articles’ like Siggurdson Schneiderlin Gueye can be just as poor and ineffectual yet no one seems to be saying they belong in league 1 or anything like that.

Drives me crazy when "Senior" pros don't get judged by the same standard when by rights they should be judged to a higher standard.

I think in fairness mate, the Siggyfraud, the Schneiderfraud and Gueye do get dogs abuse on here.

In fact the only one who doesn`t is Saint Seamus.

Dowell's at his best when striding forward towards the opposition box. He can then see the opportunities for creating something. He can then pick the pass and lay the ball off with accuracy and correct weighting. Better still, he has an eye for goal from distance.
Unfortunately in the preseason games he never got into that role. Instead he was invariably receiving the ball with his back to goal, and with a defender up his backside. He still showed his good touch but there was nothing incisive from him. So I'm not convinced he stands any more chance of making a breakthrough this season than last season. I hope I'm wrong.

Exactly.

I'd have him on the bench tomorrow in all honesty, put him on if we are chasing the game (hopefully not) and just tell him to play his natural game. Give him a start in the League Cup second round game near the end of the month. Just ease him into things instead of pedestalling him like we did Davies, Lookman and Barkley
