Surprised we re signed him as he's not getting any younger and seems to be way off it this season. In fact his assists and goal ratio is at its lowest since he joined. We may simply be unable to afford to replace him hence keeping him on (just like Barry) but if we are to progress as a club these issues need addressing

I agree with you and arguably mirrales although not good enough is probably towards the last of the ones you'd get rid of as like you say plenty more deadwood than him

I mean ever since the moyes days we've been asking for more clinical finishing in our attacking players, more goals and more assists. I've yet to see any change in this and still we ask the same from the players
Perhaps it's the players we are signing? And or not replacing. I say this as nothing has changed we still have and are lacking goals and assists from the midfield and have been for seasons now. This is one reason why I questioned why we have kept mirrales on a new contract as I don't believe he will improve his ratio

Mirallas is quality, one of the few direct players we have, silky feet and one of the few players who refuses to accept defeat until the whistle blows.
Sadly his shooting is often pretty poor and a lot of players are not on his wavelength but he's a quality squad player, great news we are keeping him imo.

How is this a bad signing? We'll be in Europe next year. Mirallas brings moments of high quality which is not easy to find. The price is right. He's a perfectly useful part-time starter, sometimes impact sub. If he doesn't start and we bring in better in the summer, what's not to like here?

When he's in the mood he's a great player.
I like him more now that I've accepted he isn't our next Kanchelskis.
