On the subject of this deal, taking everything into account, it seems like we are in the box seat. If Arsenal wanted him, they could have gone and got him by now. Yes, you could say that for us, too, but the fact that it's taking so long suggests drawn out negots between ourselves and Olympiakos. If Arsenal were seriously sniffing I'd expect we'd have hurried things along more and wouldn't be haggling. I know there's no serious confirmation of talks yet but no one knew about Rodwell for 2 weeks until it was done. I reckon the talks are going on but how advanced they are is anyone's guess.

It looks to me like the agent and Mirallas have been mentioning Arsenal because the agent would like his man earning more at a CL club. Watching the interview video, Mirallas had Arsenal suggested to him rather than him dropping Arsenal's name. He said he wanted first team football and thinks Everton, as a result, is the place to be. It seems clear where he stands. It was a genuine interest from Arsenal that seems to have cooled but the agent is trying to re-ignite it. Fair play, like.

The above is mostly (mildly) educated guesswork but it's why I'm still pretty optimistic in this case. But yeah, football transfers are often impossible to predict correctly so there's a good chance I'm chatting balls. Ah well, hopefully DAVID MOYES will pop in and shed some light again soon.

My 1st post was pretty much going to be this. I read his interview and he (mirallas) stated that he was going back to Greece on Thursday and will think about things with his family and agent over the weekend. He also said something like-next week I could be with olympiacos or in England, we will see...

To me this sort of hints at waiting to see if any other final offers come in for him for before deciding to commit to Everton. I don't know how confident I feel about this coming off but i'm... quietly confident I think!?. Reading the comments on these forums send me from an excited, dribbling wreck one minute to near suicidal anti-social [Poor language removed] the next!

btw-do you have a link to the video interview?

This situation reminds me of when we were after europes fastest winger (bystrov) and ended up getting europes slowest (bily).

Yes. Thanks Deco. The interview is more encouraging that it reads. It's the Reporter who pushes Arsenal, don't think mirallas mentions them once. Also, please dont shoot the messenger but just read someone twitter stating that mirallas was at FF this morning. The tweeter is called linesmans flag-probably a pile of bs though

No photographers allowed in/around Finch Farm today, same as when Naismith signed. Also why theres no M'baye Niang Pictures!! #EFC

Interesting point from that Linesman flag fellow

I agree really, and since he also mentioned Fellaini I'd say he is clearly favouring us. People might bite your head off for Twitter updates, but it's better than nothing to me - maybe one of these Twitter updates are for real? Who knows.

Don't get your hopes up of any reports that he is at Finch Farm - apparently his missus just sent him out for some fresh eggs and a bag of spuds from the Farm Shop!!!!!
