KENWRIGHT HAS TO GO.

Makes no difference one way or the other, the club has no money, the shareholders are not rich enough to pump in the millions the club needs. Personally I do not really blame BK, I point the figure at the Grantchesters and then Johnson for the amount of money he demanded from BK for the shares. It was Johnson who essentially robbed the club.

It's also worth noting (yet again) that it isn't the role of the chairman to run the company. That's the job of the ceo.

What's the Difference Between CEOs and Chairmen? - Matt Alsdorf - Slate Magazine

You're comparing apples and pears.

The three CEO's at Everton have been glorified PR men. Dunford made the switch from club secretary to CEO; Wyness (admittedly from a businees background) was head hunted by Bill to be his barking dog in the media (a role Wyness had at Aberdeen); Elstone is a bean counter - a consultant with no previous experience of being a CEO (which explains his provisional status as CEO at Everton) and has been the public face of Destination Kirkby. None of them devised corportate strategy - they simply sold it to the public. The one proper CEO they had through the doors, Trevor Birch, attempted to do just that: devise strategy with some bold, outside the box decion making. His reward: a golden handshake pay off and an invitation to leave the club after a few wekks in the post.

CEO's are poodles at Everton; the buck stops at the boardroom door.

Get off Bill's back. He's already said at the shareholders EGM that he isn't the man to lead the club, that he's totally incapable of running Everton FC as a modern club in the Premiership of the 21st Century, and that he needs to stand aside to let competent people to come in and do the job he's never been able or capable of doing. I can respect that. It's a big man who recognises their many failures.

Well said.

Wake up Cal, there is nobody coming to bale us out. The world economy is in freefall.
Sounds stupid but in my opinion we are better off with Kenwright at the moment. Watch and wait and see what happens next door, their Yank owners priority will be their North American based sports investments, Hicks has Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars, Gillett, Montreal Canadiens. There are huge financial problems in the States right now and these guys are losing a fortune. You think they give a damn about the RS.

Wish someone would have pointed out in the gambling thread the odds on you making this thread.

Had I put down enough of a wager I could have had the readies to buy BK out.

Whats Peter Johnson doing nowadays? If not him then Shinawatra? Better yet Kim Jong-il.

There are people queueing up round the block to buy football clubs nowadays, never has there been so much money floating about so readily available to be spent on the club, a ground, and players like Nyarko and Bilic.

Hooray for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Why do you still compare him to others?

I bet your still banging on about Heysel aren't you.

You need to stop comparing and move on, you cannot justify what he is doing.

We spent minus 2 million net profit in the summer and Ian Ross said that Moyes had a 15 million transfer budget before we even sold AJ.

JUST [Poor language removed] DO ONE KENWRIGHT.

Two words - credit crunch!

The key word now is consolidation and keeping your money however small it may be in the bank ( ha ha but choose wisely). I beleive that football as an economy, is heading for a rude readjustment, which i beleive will be evident in the Jan and summer windows, also the next round of Tv rights deals should be significantly lower then previous years which means clubs may be earning less then they currently are now, another good reason why perhaps we have been and are keeping our powder dry on the transfer front. Its very likely the case that the gravey train is over lads.

A Second point i would like to add, is that the of clubs majority of clubs that have been taken over in recent years much of their new found wealth was a flash in the pan, what success has it really yeilded in terms of consistent growth or elevateing clubs in question to echalance of world football that their new owners promised for every Aston Villa and Chelsea theres a Newcastle, West Ham, City and Pompey . Maybe just maybe the grass isnt always greener, or perhaps its important to be considered in terms of who you sell your club to aka Kenwright doesnt want to sell.

I firmly hope Kenwright doesnt go anywhere for a couple of years untill the football economy which i beleive is about to expierence a rude adjustment settles. If we get out of it with a new stadium all the better. Its prudent presently not to spend much on players with a new round of a tv rights deal to be negotiated it could be hugely detreimental to organise deals on the structure of a projected income that may not be there in six months time, and a wait and see approach is certainly advisable in terms of the clubs long term future.

If only we had some good young talent ready to burst into the first team in the next season or two! Ha ha hang on!

Thanks Bill your still the man, unfortunatly many of our fans choose to react to situations rather then respond appropriately, im glad our chairman does.

Good point about the tv deal Neiler. It runs out in 2010 and with the economy as it is I'd be very surprised if it continued on an upward trajectory.

Having said that, with the state of our finances I don't think us not spending in January would be saving money for a rainy day. I don't think we have any money to spend, it would simply mean us not taking on more debt.
