Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
found this whilst looking through isporty, i know its a toffeeweb contribution but what do you all make of it ?

Bill wasnt given a hard time on anything.

Basically, and I formed my own opinion on Kenwright last night, based soley upon what he told us last night, is that Kenwright is the ringmaster of the circus.

Every question that was asked of him, and I give you a few samples here...

Why are we not represented with a bigger presence in the City? (I bought up the Liverpool store in L1)

BK Answer, only Newcastle fans spend vast amount of sums on merchandising, and out of town Liverpool supporters, if we had a store in the city we would onbly make a couple of £100s a year through that channel, so I dont thunk its worth it. That said Im only the chairman of the club and a fan like you, I dont know anything about merchandising, but I do love the club.

Bill, are you looking to sell.

BK answer, yes, I want to sell, this week I have had calls from Rome, Norway, Dubai and America, but no one wants to buy Everton because of Liverpool in the same city.

Bill, what can you do to make Everton seem like a viable attractive proposition for any prospective purchaser?

BK answer, I dont know. Can you tell me?

Bill, what about the planning and infrastructure needed to move to Kirkby?

BK Answer, hey dont ask me guys, Im just the chairman and a fan like you, thats not a question for your chairman!!

Will Moyes be signing, whats been the delay.

BK answer, no delay, we have a close relationship he calls me 10-15 times a day, we have just been negotiating thats all.

Will Arteta be sold?

Bk answer, no, well I dont think so, why would he go? He loves Everton, new 5 year deal, hes an idol, but football is a strange thing, and nothing suprises me..!!!

I could go on!!

The usual things that get posted on here, about the boys pen, Dave Hickson, Howard etc, all came out last night.

My impression is that he is in serious [Poor language removed] concerning the future of EFC. He did admit it was his heart ruling his head when he bought the clubm which we have to admire him for, and he freely admitted he hasnt the money to take us where we want to go, but I have never in all my life heard any chairman of a multi million pound organisation admit to having no idea about how a company was run, or is ran.

And that for me is frightening!!

Kenwright, a thouroughly nice guy, but to me, in charge of a house made of cards!!!

had he been on the sauce, was he practising his standup routine or is it toffeeweb twisting the events for keioc's advantage ?

i thought this was a wind up reading it at first.

far out.

he seems to giving nothing away!

is that true? what a strange answer. i thought he was master of spin.

I was at the AGM and all the quotes are true. I have seen him before and he's been under greater pressure (Rooney sale) from fans, but tonight he looked like he'd had the hardest day at the office possible.

Wyness when he came to ESCLA gave a better account of himself, and he was recovering from a life threatening illness but still chose to come!!!

Tonight Bill was to me, snappy, evasive and some of his answers were, to be frank shocking. I am a bill fan. I don't think that he's the sporn of the devil, but tonight showed to me more clearly that running Everton (forget about the next level), is a step too far for him, and for his own sanity, he really needs to sell.

But given what happened to the clowns across the road, I'd be never careful who bought us, and why.

Given that Black Toffee was there and corroborates the quotes in that article, Kenwright is a disgrace for making those remarks. How can he expect to be taken seriously when he's saying he knows next to nothing of the details of the proposed Kirkby move; or that he sees Everton as unsellable in the City of Liverpool?

Shocking, truly shocking.

did he make any comments about aj ? news of the scum say £ 12 million he would do business with sunderland.
and arshavin?
surely he was quizzed on these issues or was it just vetted questions ?
hope to god he wasn't going to gordon ramseys place after with sav !!

come on blacktoffee spill the beans, feel the love in here......or as pete beale used to say to pat," come on Treacle"
*sign of affection not a racist jibe

Some mentioned on later at on the toffeeweb atricle -

"I was at the same Q&A, the above is not a fair reflection of the night. He did not go into detail about Kirkby especially the transport and was vague on some points but what do expect him to say? He said he has had enough and wants to sell because he can't take the club any further as he has not got £100 million spare.

Makes me smile how you forget the bit about LCC and how they have done nothing for us! Also the fact he has given personal guarantees to the bank for the YAk deal, funny how you forget all these other points.
What about when a fan thanked him for all his efforts and regardless of all the Bull under him as Chairman we are better off as a club, do believe that got the loudest cheer backed with a good round of applause.
You also forgot to mention the main reason we dont have a store at L1, is we dont have the demand for the product, he said. EFc merchandise can be bought all over the city and still the amounts sold are poor! He gave Liverpool as a possible reason why nowbody wishes to buy us not the main reason. What about the big blue chip company wishing to invest in EFC but wouldn't even travel to GP!
He is trying to sell but so far no serious offer has come in, he is doing the canvessing via a middle man. Bill is not perfect and he will admit that, his biggest problem is he doesn't have the funds to take us forward.
Lay off the personal attacks, he has limitations he knows that so dont expect him to produce miracles. What was very clear to me is without outside investment we can't go any further and that is a sad indictment of a once great club. That’s why a stadium move is the only way to generate investment, like it or not but it's reality. COYB"
I've no doubt he did say those things but there's also other things he said that night. Maybe he didnt want to answer the questions, who knows?

poor old bill , me thinks hes straining a bit at the moment.
the whole q&a answers were all a bit 'huff and puff'.

my question is , if he is willing to sell , then why are we not desirable to new investers ?

is it becouse we need millions for the stadium and aside from that we also have around 60 million debt ?(ball park figures-if anyones got exact figures please say)are we in too much debt with too little assetts ? are we really just a shell of a club now ?

what worries me is that when kenwright took over , it was 25/30 million debt and we needed a new stadium.
on the pitch we are defo better , but off it we still need the stadium and are much worse off financially even if we do have tighter restraints on finances these days.

surely that would indicate that the longer we have the current board in control that we will get further and further away from being a sound investment and more and more tied to debtors.

that would also indicate that unless we get kirkby (which is kenwrights carrott for new investors) , win something big or get a new owner , things could go tits up.

we need someone who can afford to buy a majority share in the club and perhaps also has atleast 50 million which can be loaned to the club on a long term basis with little or 0% interest.

this tells me that the new invester would have to be a blue ruled by the heart rather than a businuess man ruled by the head.

im just not sure this person is out there.

but im as sure as [Poor language removed] , that if someone saves this club , then the sky is the limit for all of us.we are a top 5 prem team ,with a great squad , manager and fans. but imo we are still a sleeping giant by our own standards.

I doubt he wouldnt know any of the details of the move, and maybe he has a point about the Liverpool thing...

...I mean who would you want to buy (if you are foriegn bilionare), the Clippers or the Lakers? The Yankees or the Mets? Like it or not we have been second fiddle for a while and as much as it royally shits me and the rest of you off, something pretty freakin drastic has to happen for us to overtake them in the pecking order, and make us a viable business propostion.

Viva la revalutioni!

i am a kenwright supporter, but surely as our chairman he should consider everton as the premier team in the city. i know most of us here do.

we are right on their coat tails anyway. with a bit of investment (bill) we will over take them for 4th.

City, forever in United's shadow, didn't have a problem getting a buyer. Birmingham have Chung looking to buy them out when Villa are the premier team in Brum.

Doesn't stack up. We are in a city in transformation. Liverpool (the city)
fooball culture is a very special phenomena...who wouldn't want to buy into that?

I agree, just because the RS are the more famous team doesn't mean we cannot find an investor. We're still part of one of the most vibrant cities in the UK, we have brilliant history and great fan base. Any foreign investor would see all these as great aspects of the club and something which can be built upon and, importantly, marketed abroad. I think it is getting too much for Bill and the bullshit he comes out with is a coping mechanism he uses.
