Yes, another fair point. Although I suspect he'll revert to type and do so for every league game possible! Plus, IF we managed to get a decent run in this cup, he'd soon drop Junior et al for the trusty warriors of Neville, Osman etc.

As I say, I'll be the happiest man alive to be proven wrong and made to eat the biggest ever slice of humble pie. I'd actually eat the whole pie, never mind a slice, if Moyes finally shed his cautiousness and delivered a shiny tin pot for us.

He's given a promising youngster a start in the coc cup at a championship side, which is good and deserves the positive response it has got on here.
But as you say, there's still a long way to go before he is giving young players game time in the prem, hope this is the first step on the road to that and not a one off.
Time will tell but until then we can just look at history which backs up what you say.

His favorite films are :

The Lost Boys
The Nutty Professor 2
Steel Magnolias

He also loves playing Scrabble (American dictionary)

Music-wise he is going through a phase of Eastern European Trip Hop and South American Grime

That's all I have at the moment

LOL

In terms of youngsters, just who exactly do you think should have played this season that hasn't?

Barkley and Junior can't have been worse than Osman and Neville were in the Newcastle game.

Vellios and Duffy are unfortunate to be in positions where we have plenty of quality ahead of them (though I wouldn't have minded seeing the greek in the league cup) but Barkley and Junior should be looking at that gibsonless midfield and going 'I can get a game here'.

You realise that our midfield dominated against Newcastle first half right? Then in the 2nd half for large parts Newcastle just decided to by-pass our midfield with a series of long balls.

They were better before they tired, yes. That's the problem with playing two thirty odd year olds there, they tire quickly. But Osman and Neville were holding and letting the rest of the team bomb forward. The domination wasn't down to them as much as it was down to our full backs and advanced players. When we came under pressure in the second half and their actual job of shielding the back four became vital, they both struggled. Same against Swansea, our defence had no protection at all.

We're a very good team but anyone who doesn't think there's room for improvement in the midfield two is wilfully blind. Moyes certainly does given that gibson normally starts and we've tried to buy no fewer than four central midfielders in the last month.

Hearing good things about this lad. Hope he gets a game tonight. Gutted Barkley is on loan, would have been the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his talent and do a Rooney from 2002.

There is always room for improvement, whether that lies in Barkley or Junior we don't really know at the moment. Hopefully in the future, they will come good.

Of course they could - and would have been.

As others have pointed out we dominated that game. You claim the problem was shielding our defence:

- how would playing a 5' 4" Junior have helped with protecting our defence from the ariel bombardment up to Cisse, Ba and Ameobi?

- are you really suggesting that when we are under pressure in a vital match against one of our big rivals we should turn to an 18 year old (yes EIGHTEEN year old) CAM as the solution to our defensive problems?

Of course there is room for improvement - there is always room for improvement - but that doesn't mean that Junior and Barkley are the solution at this time.
