WIthout checking, is that actually the schedule with this compressed season? 1 game a week? If so, then it possibly is a conceivable gamble to just go with what we have, especially that the next transfer window in terms of games played in the meanwhile aren't that many so we have a second chance in (and I just googled it) 6 games' time!

Also having now googled the frequency of games and it's a shade over 1 a week if we get cup games, but about right if we don't. I think I'd rather see Gordon or Simms coming on to relieve one of Richy or DCL and manage their end of game resting times if possible to keep them both fresh if possible than go for King, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get someone like a King in.
 

If we can get rid of someone like Besic and use his wages in someone who might actually be needed in the coming season then it makes sense. Even moving a few of the other, younger players out for small fees would help - if King will sign knowing his role will be on the bench

It’s probably a symptom of having such a threadbare squad for such a long time that we don’t feel we’re entitled to the luxury of squad depth.

All the top teams have multiple options off the bench in attacking roles and we should too.

If DCL and Richarlison both got injured we would be completely finished.

Apparently he's already turned down West Brom as he wants to play at the highest level possible. I can't see him going to West Ham unless they are his only option. He may hold out till the end of the window in the hope we, or someone else come in for him.
