Confirmed Signing Josh King

If we have the funds, I hope we try to make this signing. We may make further savings with sales/loans to EFL clubs as well.

They can decide to look at other options in January perhaps, but with the league potentially in a fluid state, we don't want a lack of cover as the reason we fell short.

I don't think anyone advocating signing King is proclaiming him to be some world-beater, clearly he isn't but for the low cost and variability he offers, it's an opportunity to round off this phase of the rebuild very nicely. Not a big name, but far from useless. He could bag 8-10 goals in this team with this support over a full season and that's worth paying £10m for.

The more I think about this the more I agree that he might be a decent option to have if we can get him for a good price and wage. We really do not want to be in the position of being unable to shift him because of his wages like Bolasie and Sandro ( I know hes off the books now , at last )

Everything.

An experienced player, who has already proven himself in the premiership and has shown that he can score goals.
He can cover two or three positions and would at the very least provide competition for those already in the starting positions.
Because Bournemouth were relegated and because he is in the last year of his contract he will be signed for relatively small money.
We now have DCL and Richarlison who can play as a striker but if Richarlison has to play in the middle it weakens us on the left, we have absolutely no cover up front.

Given our record with injuries we are not getting through this season with just the players we have and one or two injuries could cause huge problems for us , just as we have played the last three game with two centre halves fit.

The club's attitude towards it does worry me a bit.

By all accounts they hadn't been planning to loan Kean out but he and his people wanted a move away, temporarily, to get game time (whether he gets that at PSG who knows but he'll probably do better when he does play in Ligue 1 than he would in the Prem).

But in that respect, and given I think even with Kean the frontline should have been an area we wanted to boost to increase our options I know, then it seems extremely risky to not be on the look out for another addition.

I understand your thoughts and what you are saying but this could be one of those one year wonders like Leicester City had a few year ago. We must strengthen the forward line a bit so we don't fall in dormancy.

Seventy thousand reasons why. Also there are many games in a season DCL/Richy cannot play every minute.

That applies to a good few players now.
We are a different club on many facets now. Our profile has changed for the better.

Most player don’t sign short term year deals at 28 to be a squad player.. What happens if his leg snaps in two during training. Career over. 28 year olds need one last pay day and contract into mid 30: and first team football.
in effect we are looking to buy a player that will play if both dcl and richarlison aren’t fit.
You are shopping in a limited market. we are looking a player on the way up (young championship player / European player) (below the quality in kean obviously) or player past their peak happy for a swan song (cough cough Troy Deeney)
These players will be lucky to get more than 5 starts 10 games off off the bench this season - we have no European games, played our easy league cup games. Can’t see any of this happening for the reasons above

I can't see Kean fancying a return next summer. The January window is normally even worse in terms of what is available. So sign him. 3y deal

We have wised up with contract length. A player of Godfrey's age would merit a 5 year deal but King, would be offered no more than 3 years I think. Could even offer 2 years with option for a 3rd. I don't know what he earns at Bournemouth, but he would be far from being amongst the top earners at Everton I would think.

Just don’t see the same player you do I’m afraid.
His goal scoring record is frankly unexceptional ,mostly single figures , his assists are likewise just about average.
We have more of a need for a right sided forward and he prefers the left when he’s not central.
He is 28 and a three year contract would saddle us with a very average player who in all likelihood we would hope to improve on before his contract expired.
If we have no one better in mind I would prefer we brought Simms through , personally.

I wanted rmthe same but watching Simms I've changed my mind. He doesn't have the work ethic yet for the level required and that's what I think they're trying to develop in his game. He's a very good finisher though.

The manager didn't want to go for Milik because he wants a striker who can pierce our attack and put constant pressure on defenders like Son, Mane et al can. It's a modern day necessity. King can do that but he is limited in technical ability. There's not mich out there - playing Sarr up too could be effective but he'd cost too much. I think we should kist go for it unless United have favour.

Yeah you need to watch the one of all his prem goals. That YT you watched isn't a good one.
