In all fairness that's like saying Brendan Rodgers record at Celtic is incredible.

It does help when you are playing national league standard sides most weeks.

He’s also had more clubs that Rory McIlroy has in his bag.

but he looks a bit nuts and isn’t Silva, so for those reasons I’d like to invest.

Not really, as there’s other big clubs in Portugal whereas there isn’t in Scotland.

As long as 22/1, short as 8 – if you care about the odds.

Moyes still the overwhelming fav.

The logic being that the mArket thinks Silva will be gone in a couple of weeks, and Jesus isn’t available in that time frame

The bloke is 65, so has huge experience. But he has spent most of his career in Portugal. He has never managed in an English-speaking league. Communication is a huge part of the job, and not having the language skills is a huge drawback. Look at Emery at Arsenal and Moyes at Sociedad.
And Moyes at Everton and United and Sunderland. Ya dinnae ken tar har da ball oop field tae d' big mun? Haway ya nae need a Jesus, ya nee a auld fashioned fitba ma la mae.

Tim Vickery is no more a South American football expert than I am a RB Leipzig expert. Reading local papers and watching footie games still makes your opinion wildly subjective at the end of the day.

Although he was right on Funes Mori but even a broken clock is right twice per day.
His busted leg did for him really. I guess we'll never know for sure about Funes Mori. But if it proves Vickery wrong, then it was only the leg injury that made him gash at times.

At the risk of being labelled a xenophobe I hope this isn't the choice the board make.

At the start of the season? Sure, he has solid credentials and bags of experience. Midway through with a nightmare fixture list upcoming? Well, I'd sooner someone comes in who speaks the language and who, ideally, has experience in this league.

Most here are very sanguine about the spectre of relegation. On paper it shouldn't be an issue, but any team that's just been outfought and outplayed at home by the bottom of the table side and has lost to all three promoted teams during an 'easy' start to the season is playing with fire if they put someone in charge who has zero experience of the league.

Doesn't mean pushing the Big Sam button or sending for Tony Pulis, but we no longer have the luxury of taking too big a gamble in my view.

:(

Hard to argue with that.

The problem for Moshiri et al is that almost every candidate put forward will come wth reasons not to appoint them.

I would certainly agree that safety first should be the priority even if that has to result in another interim appointment.

There are genuine dilemmas for the board to resolve, the only non-dilemma is that Silva should be removed.

I thought Brendan Rogers was a useless manager winning competitions in Scotland where there was only one team.

Turned out I was wrong about him so what do O know ?, I think we need to bring in somebody with a history of winning trophies, although bringing a 65 year old seems excessive unless they intended making him general manager and keeping Silva on at the club hoping that he can work with Jorge, learn something and possibly take over again in the future.

Football managers work well in to their 70's. Appointing a 65 year might not mean he's going to stay for 10 years but realistically, is any manager of any age likely to last any more than 3 or 4 years in a job at the most?

Him and his assistant picking the team.
