After some horrific blunders he definitely had confidence problems. He appeared psychologically fragile and could easily have faded from the scene. He has shown a great strength of character to work his way through those problems.
Carlo Ancelotti also deserves praise for the way he handled the situation. Some managers would have publicly criticised the lad and benched him for good, destroying his confidence altogether
When he did take him out of the spotlight to play Olsen, he was always quick to say that Pickford would be back.
