2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Lloris made an absolute howler in the world cup final but in context it didn't matter because they were about 3 goals up, de gea made a bad one against Portugal supposedly the best keeper in the world

I watched the highlights back and was surprised at how many mistakes our players made that could have changed the result. On another day, it would be those players held to account and not Pickford. I've already criticised him for his horrific mistake but other mistakes that were made (most probably covered already)

Mina missed from Digne cross - about 8 yards out
Gomes missed a header from a yard out. He scores that we'd have drawn or won
Keane swung his leg to clear it and missed the ball for a chance that Mane put wide 2nd half
Our whole defence left Origi free 3 yards out when he hit the bar. That was as bad as Gomes' miss

Whilst the defeat is 100% on Pickford, it shows that all players make mistakes that can be costly. Their players could have been punished too on another day.

I cant stand Paul Merson but he was spot on about Pickford and his woeful levels of concentration. He needs to work on that aspect of his game far more than he needs the backing of any fans.

Be professional. Not too much to ask of an Everton and England GK like is it?

off on one you dave

where had you been the 3 full 90 minutes prior to the injury time howler when pickford had been superb?

he'll know more than anyway how bad it was

You said it: he's a WC winner; and De Gea and other top GKs have proven themselves as consistently good over a number of seasons. We have Pickford; he's done NOTHING in the game and cant be compared to those GKs.

What, in those massivley pressurised games against local rivals we need him to turn up against? Those games?

He cant keep goal for us over a whole match without his mind wondering. The lad looks short in that department. He either improves vastly in it or we replace him.

he's done nothing? come on lad hes a baby in terms of keeper terms and in his first full season for us he's become englands number 1 and a big reason to why England reached the world cup semis, he's been linked constantly with a big money move away clearly shows he's doing something right?

also up until france won the world cup lloris had done what exactly? and he's about 10 years older
lloris makes a good 8-10 mistakes every season btw

"Baby". Do me a 'kin favour.

Stop making excuses for a grown man.

he did turn up for 90 minutes and made a mistake at the very end, it's unfortunate and it was terrible but overall he's been brilliant recently, you just cant wait to jump on him after a mistake

mistakes happen all the time re keepers

My god, you're agreeing with Merson. Your head has gone and I'm not sure it will ever return.
