That's a sad indictment for the fee we actually paid for him when 9 keepers on that list cost less than the fee we paid.

Doesnt matter. When Butland is you competition, it says a lot about the level of the english national team. He wouldnt even be a concideration for France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Brazil or Germany.

He’s in poor form but to try and make out Behovic is better than him is mental. Cech has been poor for years yet he has one good game and suddenly he’s boss again? He was almost kicking it into his own net at the start of the season. Schmeichal was pilloried on here when we were buying Pickford, for good reason as well because he was rubbish, but because he’s in ok form he’s somehow better now as well. Kepa has done nothing of note in the prem so can’t make any judgement yet ditto Alisson.

The only two I’d conclusively swap him for are De Gea and Ederson and even then ifone of those was in bad form behind our defence they’d probably look awful whilst Pickford would be in his deckchair behind City’s defence facing one shot a game.

There are better keepers in this league, playing for worse sides - a lot of them have been mentioned in this thread over the last pages. In other words, we absolutely do not have the best keeper we could possibly have for our stature as a club. Thats a preposterous statement to make.

but pope is also competition, a keeper someone named a page or two back as better options

France- Lloris plays in the champions league with spurs
Italy- Donnurumma or whatever hes called, plays in Europe with AC Milan one of the biggest names in world football ( also his boyhood club )
Portugal- Patricio, good keeper to be fair, but better than pickford? we'll see
Spain- De gea plays for united
Brazil- Alisson and ederson play for the 2 best teams in england
Germany- Nuer and ter stegen play for munich and barca

mate I don't get your argument, your saying hes not good enough, not good enough to play for the above but name teams with players who play for the best teams all around Europe

I'd throw Lloris in there with Ederson and De Gea as well personally. But agree with everything else.
