Ah right forgive me for overlooking that, so thats 70minutes over 2 seasons, makes a MASSIVE difference.
Morg, when did Jonjoe become Cafu? I honestly don't know what's happened here. He's about 20-21 isn't he? I honestly never thought of him as one that we would see make it.

Hes 20 mate yeah.

He looks a talent, but its utter madness to think about going into a season with possible Europa League with a player unproven at the highest level.

Nobody was really talking about him six months ago. All I know is he came on for a bit in the Arsenal match and didn't look any worse than the rest of them.

From what I remember hearing of Kenny, people have always had their doubts. He's been played in a few different positions, center back(not so much anymore with his size, center mid and right back. I don't really recall him being noted as one to watch but rather as a dependable performer who was going to go the way of Ledson and Lundstrom.

I aint even gonna pretend I watch the U23s loads, but I went the game at Goodison and I watched 1 on a stream, he really caught the eye and hes getting rave reviews in the U20 WC, but like most young players, hes suddenly become Cafu, I await the crys of TERRRN JONJOE any day now.

You couldn't be further off the mark here, he's always been highly rated by staff at the club.

Took the words right from me, that post on Kenny is wrong in so many parts, in the younger ages he was talented enough to play centre half despite his small size. I find it bizzarre that people can't just enjoy his performances for what they are, a youngster playing really well for his country . It seems like only two people have mentioned the " Cafu" comparison , both in a negative way, it's almost become fashionable to shoot down the youngsters in as clever a way as you can so that next season they can say " See , I told you he wasn't Cafu". Bizzarre.

Isn't Connolly a Right back too??

We need cover at Left back for more than right.
Yes , Connolly is naturally right footed and can play both full back positions. While people were arguing about just how many PL mins Kenny has they forget that we've had 4 other youngsters playing PL mins at RB, as well as Holgate there's been Connolly, Browning, and Pennington. Throw in Gethin Jones, who is probably the furthest away from being a PL RB but had a good end of season run in the Championship, and you have in total Six youngsers who have played RB . Whether any of them will eventually be Seamus's successor who knows, but we are hardly short of potential in the position.

From what I've seen (a number of u23 games) he's as close to Coleman as I've seen.

He was immense for England.

Obviously I'd trust koeman but I'd love him to have enough faith for him to start the season. Holgate can always step in if needed.

The Kirkdale Cafu. In all seriousness was he not part of the England youth team that one the European championship a few years back or am I confusing him with Garbett? I remember we also had the captain of that team although he never looked good enough to make it.

Think I've only seen Connolly once, didn't he debut in the same game as Tom Davis?? I remember he was very calm & neat. Looked good. Then a few weeks later, JJK made his debut. From what I remember, he threw in a couple of tackles Hibbo would have been proud of. Then what I've seen from the appearance this season & the u23 & England u20 games, he looks very promising.

Not keen on playing centre halves like Browning & Pennington at RB.

I don't remember a time when we had more than 2 really promising youngsters. Now we've got them across most positions. Could be an interesting season.

Have seen him play loads of times going back to schools football and Sunday lg, he looks comfortable in any of the back line positions outfield reads the game well, does the right things at the right time, there were others that caught the eye like Rossiter at rangers now, who were a bit more flashy , but he was the most consistent, watching him at that age always thought he could do a decent job in midfield.

they have both won the u17 euros 3 yrs apart. think garbutt might have been a leeds player at the time though.

Yeah the U17s in 2014, Kenny calmly scored the winning penalty. Ryan Ledson was the captain you're thinking of, now at Oxford , progressing well to be fair, apparently WHU want to buy him.
