I will fume if we sign someone that blocks his progress.
I will fume if we go into the season expecting a player with only 12minutes of Premiership football to be our only fit RB for the next 7-8 months.
No matter how good he looks, we NEED another body in the RB area.

He should be a starter seeing as Coleman is injured, been quality for the U23's. Modern day full back, great at defending and boss at going forward.
There can't be many RB s who've been MoM in two international games out of three. His linking up with Dowell was excellent today and his defensive work top notch, clearing one ball off the line . He'll need a rest after this tournament, but Koeman will have enough time with him pre season and even in August to work with him , improve him and make him PL ready. This type of player should be right up Koeman's street in terms of developing further into a classy right back, or even a wing back in a 3 man defence.

What if we brought him in on a free to back Kenny up though....that way Holgate can play his actual position.
Kenny can't play every game and there is no guarantee Coleman will play at all next year.

Hard to judge that by the level of competition he is playing at, but I agree he seems better than Holgate. What impresses me is, his passes are right on, almost never gives the ball away on a missed pass.

Agreed. If Kenny really is a good prospect then it makes sense to get a decent/average back up that won't kick up a fuss if he becomes third choice. Martina is out of contract too.

What do we want here? An Evertonian showing precious ability at Full back in his international age group and playing a leading role in taking Everton to winning the PL2 title or a more experienced pro in the same position who used to be managed by our current gaffer.
Without being too forward, it's a no brainier for me. Seamus will be back to reclaim his spot; so it's a question of Premiership and Europa League deputisation we are debating.
Holgate, like Galloway before him has shown that learning the craft of a FB before moving more centrally is not a bad option. Lescott did it, to a lesser extent Browning, Jagielka, Heitinga, Ratcliffe.
Let Kenny develop as a fullback in the white hot atmosphere of the Premiership. I saw the game today - in SE Asian conditions - he was head and shoulders MotM.
I'd have played him at Anfield - he's a more natural fullback than Holgate, Browning, Davies etc.
No particular dislike of the Southampton lad, but the bigger picture here is to show a pathway to the first team if you are good enough.

At the very least, Kenny should be a regular in the Europa League and Cup games. That's if Coleman plays first team. Better right back than Holgate.
